Which Ten Commandments? There are two lists, that doesn't completely correspond with each other, isn't there?

1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
I have no other gods after either... What about the Hindus? They have gods long before, and they have Krishna, which might have been the inspiration for Jesus.
2. You shall make no idols.
So, no statues of old war-heroes, no worshiping of flags, no crucifixes to hang on walls, no hunting trophies?
What is an idol, a graven image, really?
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
What's "in vain", and why not?
4. Keep the Sabbath day holy.
Which is the Sabbath again? Is it Friday (for Muslims), Saturday (for Jews) or Sunday (for Christians)? Or is it all three?
5. Honor your father and your mother.
Sure, if they treat us well, we'll treat them well too. That's just logic and common decency.
They decided to have us, so they are responsible for our wellbeing.
6. You shall not murder.
Now we're talking! How come this isn't at the top of the list, if the whole point is to protect life and liberty?
7. You shall not commit adultery.
This makes sense; if you have promised one person, you should stick to that person, or let him/her know you want a divorce.
8. You shall not steal.
Again, why isn't this at the top of the list? This, like murder, and to some extent adultery, is something that potentially harms other people, as opposed to the first 5 woolly points.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
This also makes sense; lying about other people can potentially destroy their lives.
10. You shall not covet.
This feels a bit redundant. It's stealing and adultery all over again.
So, what about protecting children, caring for the poor, providing people with healthcare, equal rights, women's rights to their own bodies, driving safely, providing children with a proper education, and other very important issues?
Chris Kyle? No, never heard about him. Dylann Roof comes to mind, and Robert Lewis Dear, Jr, Stephen Paddock, Timothy McVeigh, Nickolas Cruz, etc, etc, etc.
If the Ten Commandments curb the behavior of angry Christians, how come there are more Christians in the prison population in the US, than there are in the general population? If this wasn't just about common sense and common decency (both much older than your religion), there ought to be only non-Christians in prison.
