Concern for the safety of nearly 300 schoolgirls kidnapped in northern Nigeria three weeks ago has escalated after an Islamist militant group on Monday claimed responsibility for the mass abduction and threatened to “sell” the young women on the market.
Abubakar Shekau, a leader of Boko Haram, said in a video obtained by the AFP: “I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah. There is a market for selling humans. Allah says I should sell. He commands me to sell. I will sell women. I sell women. ”

The sad truth is, human trafficking is still a huge problem all over the world, and some of those girls probably already are locked away in a harem somewhere, with no hope of ever seeing their families again.
That he uses his religion to justify it makes it all the more despicable.
