An Auburn woman calling herself an ambassador for God and his son, Jesus Christ, filed a federal lawsuit Friday against all homosexuals.

Sylvia Driskell, 66, said in the suit that she is petitioning the U.S. District Court of Omaha to be heard "in the matter of homosexuality. Is homosexuality a sin, or not a sin?"

In a seven-page letter framed as a lawsuit, she cited Bible passages that described homosexuality as an abomination and against nature, and she said never before has the nation or the state been "besiege(d) by sin."

"Will all the judges of this nation judge God to be a lier [sic]?" Driskell asked.

She said she petitioned the court because she feels it imperative to stand up for the moral principles on which the nation was founded.

I'm no lawyer, but I learned enough in History at school about the US Constitution to know that it doesn't so much as mention once the word 'Marriage'. Least of all 'God', 'Jesus' or 'Creator'.

That's law school 101.

You can't pass the Bar Exam without some semblance of Constitutional Law knowledge. For when your opponents in court can simply cite the 10th Amendment - coupled with there already being 36 states which have legalised S-SM - and the SCOTUS are already deciding on the legalisation of such throughout the US - then if you want to waste your time & money, you go right ahead, Silly Sylvie. It's your - and your bank balance's - funeral.

The Bible itself isn't even permissible as evidence in a court of law. Just ask Judge John E. Jones III, post-Kitzmiller vs. Dover, and he's a Conservative Christian himself.

You know your entire case will fall apart, should you opponents say 'We call to the witness stand God...!', and when he doesn't appear, then he'll have made a 'lier' out of himself, never mind you.

'Ambassador for God', eh? Has Jesus presented his credentials to the Court of St. James [/Irony] here in the UK, so as to be recognised as the representative of 'Heaven', just as the US ambassador - and for all other countries - had to?

@Nomen Nescio: i actually haven't found any -- it's just that this lady's handwriting reminds me of american primary school. that's the only place i've seen pretty handwriting like that, and i know that third grade is when (most?) american schoolchildren learn cursive.

my parents moved to england when i was really young (we're originally from the states), and i was placed in fourth grade when we moved back. i remember that all of the kids except me wrote in cursive very similar to that lady's, and they all had very uniform handwriting relatively speaking. my teacher was pretty flummoxed by the the fact i couldn't write in "proper" cursive. she said i would have learnt how to to do that and practiced it "last year" in american school. i was just as stumped by that, because they don't teach handwriting nearly as zealously in the UK -- basically just enough to write in the first place and that's about it.

my fourth grade teacher was really nice about my little predicament, though. she taught me cursive herself. (i didn't think she was very nice for that at the time, though!) she told me that most other teachers would expect me to write in cursive until i graduated high school. she wasn't quite right about that, but she was right enough: my teachers required cursive but only until my first year of senior high. i quickly reverted to my old run-together, not-quite-cursive, not-quite-print handwriting then. i also moved back to england later, but that's a whole other thing.

...aaand that's my little story.

So a secular court should decide a religious question. Is Ms. Driskell really sure she thought this through?

On the other hand there have been at least two actual lawsuits where God is the defendant.
In both cases there were problems with the address or identity of the accused

Also, if she's God's ambassador, does that mean people can now file law suits against God and list her as one of the defendants?

Have you ever seen the Billy Connolly movie “The Man Who Sued God”? Maybe someone really should try to reenact it
