I believe in a 6-day creation by God that occurred about 6,000 - 10,000 years ago.

Yet I also appreciate that scientific analysis concludes that the earth seems much more mature than this, around 4bn years.

How on earth can I reconcile all this? Very easily.

To understand the first miracle in the Bible (the creation), one must also understand the first miracle of Jesus in the Gospel of John- Jesus turning water into wine.

Jesus didn't turn the water into a cheap and nasty wine. He turned it into the best wine, the taste was so good. Logically, the best wines are the oldest. This miracle demonstrates that Jesus could in just a few seconds not only create, but create something MATURE.

In the same way, God in a 6-day period could create a MATURE Universe. This took place 10,000 years ago. Yes the earth does look older than 10,000 years but the earth is a MATURE creation just as Jesus's wine was a MATURE creation.

Case closed. Jesus is Lord.

I actually don't have a problem with this person's position. At least they are acknowledging that the physical evidence does, in fact, require an Earth older than 6000 years.

What I have a problem is that he believes this exercise in lateral thinking is in some way proof of his idea. It's an interesting idea, and if you believe in an omnipotent god, it's certainly a theologically plausable idea, but it isn't prof.

By ending his statement with "Case closed. Jesus is Lord," thus rejecting any arguments to the contrary, he has declared the mere exisence of his theory as proof that the thery is correct.

It's a shame really, since the idea he describes requires some pretty creative thinking. If only he could keep thinking he might eventually figure out how placing absolute faith in the absolute accuracy of a thousands-of-years-old collection of folklore and religious stories is foolish.

hmmm...case (or cask) reopened.
The best wine is made by going out of your way to make it the best ie cutting down on the amount of grapes grown on each vine to ensure higher quality of juice thus sacrificing a great deal of quantity for not that much more quality.

But judging by archelogical evidence people from those times they didn't produce very high quality of wines, even yellowtail is of a higher quality.

So perhaps jeebus put some sugar in the water along with some vodka and red coloring. The bible clearly states that people had been drinking other wine previous to this and drinking degrades your ability to taste.

Yeah I'm a winemaker.
