"My sister just ruined my day. She told me that Shepard Smith, who has been my favorite late-afternoon news guy, is gay. Does anyone know? Is that true? I hope not. I really like his news cast, but if he's gay, it will affect his integrity with me. Why, you say? I'm not sure, but it will likely make me trust him less. News filtered through gay eyes, like Anderson Cooper, may not be entirely on the mark."
Watching "Changing Rooms" on BBC1 in the morning, I thought the series' main interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen* was gay; his Byron-esque dress sense, and general intellectually flamboyant manner, a la Stephen Fry (pbuh). All well and good. And good for him, I thought. Then one day I discovered he was actually married & with kids. Then I assumed 'Okay. So he's bisexual'. Until on a chat show he admitted that, whilst he was at university, he pretended to be gay 'just to attract the girls', and that he was actually as straight as a laser.
Shows how 'assumptions are the mother of all fuckups' eh, GeauxTo? How your pre-conceived ideas can be shattered.
'Never judge a book by it's cover' indeed.
So ask yourself this, GeauxTo (and how pretentious - nay, 'florid' - a screename is that? And in an American Football fan forum, no less?! Closet case yourself, much?): Shepard Smith: is he any the less a person for coming out? Does he do his job any the worse for - and the fact you now know - he's gay? (check one):
[ ] Yes. Well, it's you who has the problem. Not him.
[ ] No. So what's your problem? Faux News clearly doesn't have a problem with him (as proven by the new 3-year $7-8 million contract they've given him & he's signed). So STFU.
Choose wisely.
@LDM
"Yeah, and Rush Limbaugh is always dead on."
Hopefully that fat evil subhuman right-wing hypocrite blubberbag will smoke one cigar too many, and take one too many pills, then you'll be able to omit the 'on' in your comment. And then I'll celebrate.
