Atheism is a lack of religion, making the two more or less complete opposites. Secularism and humanism are philosophies common among atheists (but are by no means exclusive to them--you might want to look up "Christian humanism"), and neither are religions. Gay marriage is a civil right, and it also is not a religion.
Christianity, however, is a religion.

Actually, banning all religions would prevent you from being "a devout Christian," but the rest of us will still be free to be atheists, humanists and secularists, as well as get "gay married."

As an atheist, I observe absolutely no religious rites nor anything that can be construed as such.
You on the other hand, as a Christian who thinks everyone who disagrees with you worships something that's not capable of being worshiped, probably do so on at least a weekly basis if not more often.

I find it hilarious that one of the disparagements fundies try to use is that the things they hate are religions. It's as if they're trying to paint religion as a bad thing...which, by virtue of that position, would make their own religion a bad thing!

Humanism is a philosophy, which is like a religion but with no rituals or organized structure.
Gay marriage is a right that people should have. It is no more a religion than freedom of speech.

Gay marriage is not a religion, it's a legal practice to unite two loved ones.
Humanism is taking care of all humans, treating them equally and with respect. Not much of a religion either.
Atheism is sort of the antithesis of religion, it's the absence of any gods. Secularism is similar, taking away religion from every day life and confining it to churches and synagogs and other holy houses, and to people's private home life.
