Japan has its fair share of problems no doubt, the key one being they aren’t producing enough babies (due largely to global feminism teaching women that reproducing isn’t very important). I suppose you think if they had just let hordes of Filipinos and Indonesians immigrate there that they’d have a thriving, vibrant country and be all set for the future. Guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on that one too.

Japan's land area is roughly the size of North Carolina. There are over 125 million people living there now. And you think they need to be focused on increasing reproduction. The fuck is wrong with you?! How many more people do you think can sustainably fit there while still maintaining an acceptable standard of living? After a certain point, reproduction becomes self-destructive.
...and if you think any form of feminism is a big thing in Japan, you are either ignorant as fuck or delusional as fuck. Take your pickthere is no logically possible third option.

Japan doesn't need much immigration, because there are more than enough people there now regardless of race or ethnicity. They're going to have to find some other way of solving their aging-population crisis. All I know to do is wish them the best of luck with that. Positive birth rates will just create another imminent problem that will need to be dealt with.
imagine japan: one of the most populous nations in the world. also a nation with one of the highest living standards in the world. but one of the least ethnically diverse nations and one of the smallest land-wise. now imagine japan wants to further increase its population, further decrease its diversity, and do this without without hurting its comfy standard of living.
what you are imagining is a f’king recipe for arudorufu hitoreru.
Well...yes, I'm going to disagree with you.
1) One of the reasons for the low birth rate is the highly patriarchal nature of Japan. Yes, patriarchal, not feminist. Like...well, almost every other country, Japan has a lot of working class families. Most families have two working parents, just like America. However, unlike America, working when you're married as a woman carries a huge stigma. Basically, women are expected to drop everything and have kids by the time they're 25 (look up the term "Christmas Cake" if you want to feel particularly depressed) and then leave the workforce. If a woman wants to work, she basically has 3 choices. She can give up on the work, find 'suitable' work for a woman (teacher is one) or not get married.
2) The declining birth rate in fact one reason Japan has started encouraging immigration...from the West. It's worth noting that Japan has highly romanticized views of the western world. On the other hand, Japan has...just a heaping shitton of racism, particularly toward other Asian cultures. If you're clearly of European descent, you're generally treated well, though kept at something of an arm's length unless you are married. Most racism stems from stereotypes or just "not being Japanese." If you are a Korean immigrant in Japan, you hit that racism full on.
3) ...you're an idiot.
Yep, I think that about covers it.
Naoko Takeuchi's manga "Sailor Moon" represents Empowerment of women.
I guess it's done it's job.
Oh, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. (*Gets biff in a headlock and knocks on his head very hard *)
Hello?! Biff! >:D
As a (white) westerner living in Japan, this is a load of shit.
The small bit of good news is that it's slowly getting better. Women are at least getting more options now when it comes to working and starting a family. It's no where near perfect yet but I do see some baby steps in the right direction.
That being said, Japan is still highly patriarchal. And the declining birthrate shows how it hurts men too. A slur against men here is "herbivore" aka a man who is not interested in dating and sex. And many men are opting out because they don't want to start a family at a young age any more than women do here. So many people are fighting against this conservatism by refusing to opt into the traditional life track.
I do wish to see Japan reach the modern era socially though. Perhaps when the current stock of politicians finally die (since they all seem old enough to be from the Tokugawa Era) we can get some movement.
Confused?
