I think that the theory of evolution, if believed to be true, is damaging to Christianity in the many ways, a few of which are;

Have you ever been asked why God allows bad things to happen, such as hurricanes? If evolution is true than God is allowing these things to happen, and are they are a result of God's created world, not man's sin.

Amazing how that works, isn't it? Now if we can just get rid of all of the references to God, then you'll really have it right. Of course, we also need to include a reasonable theory of the creation of the universe and, perforce, the Earth (since hurricanes have nothing whatsoever to do with evolution), but hey, at least she's getting somewhere.

Actually, that's just reality, not evolutionary theory.
Get your nose out of your Wholly Babble once in a while and look around. You may notice that what you believe the ToE to describe is just the way things work in the real world.
Wow - it's truly amazing how you can be on this site for 6 months and read 5,000 qoutes and still be knocked on your ass by new an original forms of inanity!
"Hurricanes are a direct result of sin" - Hmmmm, could you get any more childish?
"If evolution is true it's all part of God's design, and I refuse to accept God would allow random chance, so it can't be true" -- oh fuck, spoke too soon!
I guess it's true what Einstein said, "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."
First fundies whine about how evolution "requires" death, and then they praise God for Noah's Flood!
I understand that asking fundies to maintain a reality-based worldview is asking too much, but couldn't they at least be arsed to maintain self-consistent beliefs?
"According to Evolution death, strife, and violence is the natural way of things, and how God created the world to be."
Maby you should turn on the tv and watch the news. There is a thing called murder that has been around for thousands of years, prisions love this thing.
" Have you ever been asked why God allows bad things to happen, such as hurricanes? If evolution is true than God is allowing these things to happen, and are they are a result of God's created world, not man's sin. "
Dont got a clue on what your talking about. Maby the Gulf of Mexico was just a sin deposite when Hurricane Katrina came to kill all of the evil, sationist, people in New Orliens.
Hate Christian Forums' billions of pics. per page policy, I cant load page on my connection without freasing.
Once I was visiting a girlfriend during a long rain. We were watching the weather report when her mother said something about the rain being punishment for something one of us had done.
I pointed to the TV weather map and said, somewhat angrily, "It's raining from Ohio to the Atlantic Ocean. I don't think it's personal."
We broke up soon after that.
Oh, boo! And all those rapists, baby rapists, murderers, sociopaths, thieves and con artists are there what?
If we're this ultimately good race placed here by God almighty, then why is there crime and evil anyway?
Oh wait... look at the tigers, lions, wolves and see how they feed. Look at our slaughterhouses and farms, too.
For crying out loud, little girl, have you EVER seen a history book? All filled with so much love for thy brother, and they had absolutely no knowledge of our origin besides what the Church/Bible was telling them.
The ToE is true (as far as we know), regardless of whether anyone believes it. Now, obviously, you'll have great difficulty understanding the "nonexistent god" concept, so let me just ask you this: Why are you complaining that disasters aren't God's fault?
bjbj1991 - You might want to try the Lynx browser . It works entirely in text mode, so images don't load. Sometimes, this makes a site's formatting come out a little weird, but most pages I've tried stay pretty readable.
<<< If evolution is true than God is allowing these things to happen >>>
And if it isn't true, God is still allowing these things to happen (assuming, for the moment, that he exists).
Think about that for a bit.
Babbleon - nice comeback there.
>>According to Evolution death, strife, and violence is the natural way of things
I thought that was the basis of Christianity? Y'know, that everyone on earth should be forced to suffer like Christ did because if you're good you'll be happy in heaven?
"According to Evolution death, strife, and violence is the natural way of things, and how God created the world to be."
The ToE says nothing about God creating the world or how God wished the world to be.
"Have you ever been asked why God allows bad things to happen, such as hurricanes?"
Of course, and the answer is either God does not exist or God is evil or uncaring or impotent or some combination of those three.
"If evolution is true than God is allowing these things to happen, and are they are a result of God's created world, not man's sin."
No, your adding God again. The ToE, while not excluding God, doesn't require God.
Evolution is true. Your real question needs to be - Is God real?
Confused?
