The idea of a Universal Church was a Catholic (Greek- "Katholicos" which means "Universal") invention which was never accepted by true, bible-believing Christians. The direct descendents of those early Christians that predated the existence of the Catholic Church by several centuries are represented today by the Independent Baptist Churches that exist throughout the world. This can be proven by a direct historically verifiable lineage from the Church that Christ started. And those churches of today and those of our historical lineage on back through the centuries to the time of Christ himself, predating the Catholic Church by several centuries, never questioned the divinity of Christ.
