Regarding proposed changes to a controversial Idaho law that allows parents to deny their children life-saving medical care for religious reasons

Just before Johnson introduced his bill, Dan Sevy, a member of the Followers of Christ Church that has been at the center of the debate over whether to change the law, introduced a bill of his own.

The bill would add to the state’s law on authorizing emergency medical treatment a line saying courts will consider whether a child is being treated by any other type of alternative medicine, like faith healing, before ordering emergency medical treatment. That law already instructs the court to consider whether a family believes in faith healing in making such a determination, and Sevy’s bill would leave that intact.

Bills are generally introduced by lawmakers, but non-lawmakers like Sevy are on occasion allowed to introduce bills in the Statehouse.

"Atheists would like us to believe that they are being persecuted because we live in a country with "In God We Trust" on our currency....and "Under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance....this is NOT persecution....this is living in a Christian nation founded on Christian principles. This is the way this country has been for hundreds of years. It was not changed during this generation simply to make your lives harder for your beliefs. Stop crying about it....everyone deals with unfair issues....whether it be race, religion, income....whatever. Life is hard and it isn't fair. Get over it. And here's some food for thought....you don't believe in God....well, I don't believe in atheists. I think many people like to profess atheism because then they aren't burdened by having to live up to a higher calling....but when it comes right down to it, I don't believe in true atheism. When an atheist is in a horrible car wreck and lies there dying, you can't tell me they won't call out to God in desperation....or when their innocent child is dying a terrible death by cancer, that they won't say a desperate prayer to God to help their child....you can (and probably will) argue with my beliefs, but they are what they are. Oh, and just for the record, I am not persecuting you or discriminating against you, I am simply exercising my right to free speech....in this beautiful Christian nation in which in God we trust."

Only creationism can teach children morality
Addressing the concern for our youth:

Why is teenage suicide up? Why is teenage meth use up? Why are teenage pregnancies up?

I think we are teaching this stuff in our schools:

(1) By teaching the religion of evolution, we are telling our children that you are an accident and have little or no value.

(2) There is no purpose to life except to have fun and pass on your genes.

(3) There is no absolute right or wrong; in fact, there are no absolutes.

(4) Your presence here is a burden on the planet since you are one of the polluters and it would be better for the world if you died.

When we teach the religion of evolution in our schools, this is what we are telling our children because there is no real future. Since there is no way to tell right from wrong, survival of the fittest becomes a way of life. It is unthinkable that we would dare teach intelligent design and give eternal value to our children.

Maybe they (educators) will come up with a new program for morality like they did for fatherless children in the '50s, drugs in the '60s, HIV in the '80s, all of which was a miserable failure. Only creationism teaches morality.

Good luck, Mr. and Mrs. America
