The evidence does not preclude the Garden story. In fact, given the fact that abiogenesis does not happen means that God had to create life directly.
There wasn't a myriad of languages at the time. There was one language. And it's not like Adam had to name every microbe, just 'Beast of the Field' and 'Bird of the Sky'.
