Obama, worse than Bush? Well...
Yes?
Obama has implemented policies materially worse for the most disadvantaged than Bush's, but because he's eloquent, intelligent and presents himself as a compassionate, progressive peace president, the American public seem to judge him on what he says, not what he does.
It has little to do with the extreme right blocking his attempts; just try looking at what he and his regime have actually done.
I mean, you can tell Obama cares about Hispanic immigrant communities and undocumented workers because of how he speaks about them. He may have overseen the deportation of more undocumented workers than any president in US history, but listen to how he talks!

You can tell Obama is concerned about legal torture and the degree of military power over people - combatant, civilian, citizen, foreigner, whatever - because he signed an order to close Guantanamo. I mean, in the years since then he's signed various orders to keep it operational and made no actual move to cease its operations, but he did it!

You can tell Obama is concerned about the innocent children American imperialism murders, because he's expressed a desire to end the current foreign wars and bring troops home. That he's ordered more drone strikes than Bush ever considered, or that he insists on their continued use despite knowing they kill innocent children, is immaterial.

You can tell Obama understands the ridiculous nature of the War on Drugs and how wasteful it is to use state funds and violence to shut down a distributor of what local and regional authorities have approved as a medicine,
because he ordered a halt on raids against medical marijuana facilities in areas they can legally operate. He hasn't stopped a bunch of these raids occurring, and they even seem to be able to make stronger demands than they previously could, but hey.

You can tell Obama is concerned about the creep of executive power and the government's increasing resistance to being answerable to its public, because he's criticised extensive use of the USA PATRIOT Act and data gathering on innocent citizens suspected of no wrongdoing. Well, he did as a senator: as President, he's defended phone monitoring, NSA spying and relied on Bush's laws frequently.

Obama. Change you can only believe in if you're a gullible dope.
Also, as a side note: Didn't Lincoln rely on a massive war and use of conscription to achieve his ends - the abolition of slavery not even being one of them, but a happy coincidence? I wouldn't say he's the worst, but he might just inspire more respect than is justified.
