We recently hired a new youth leader to our team a few months ago. She has been a believer for 6 years and seems to have zeal for her pursuit of the Lord and in time has formed great relationships with the girls in our group. Recently we had an annual indoor heated pool event for our youth group. The males are required to wear at least a tank top and the girls have to wear at least a one piece or a dark shirt over a two piece. The same rules obviously apply to the leaders. Quite to our surprise this particular leader obeyed in wearing a one piece but it was a thong in the back and extremely revealing so as to call unwanted attention and stumbling for the males and questions from the girls. She defended herself by stating she wasn't doing anything we weren't told to do which seemed like sliding by the rules because of lack of specifics. She doesn't seem to think her actions were wrong and unfortunately it seems we may have to remove her as a leader all because of this incident which will affect the girls she has already bonded with.

@creativerealms: No, she's in trouble for implying that female sexuality exists and is not a horrible, awful thing that will ruin the children forever if they learn about it. Therefore, she must be censored.

They have AN annual indoor heated pool event? In Sweden, swimming lessons are required by the school curriculum, so that everyone knows how to swim by the time they quit primary school. We were taken to the swimming pools and/or to lakes and sea-shores several times a year, when I was in school, and they still do it now. When I was about 14, the fashion for out-door swimming was to wear Adidas shorts, for boys and girls (no tops at all). Funnily enough we managed without stumblings and questions.
Can't you just not have her present at the one and only time you go to the pool? The girls she has already bonded with will be even more affected by her complete removal as leader.
Those fine, upstanding Christian teenage boys are likely looking at porn at home. If they're not getting horny by looking at this girl's ass then they're getting horny by looking at the other girls' figures, even if they're covered up by a one-piece or a T-shirt.
But leave it to a Christian group to punish a girl for being a girl.
Sorry, but if you have rules that fall outside the norms of wider society, you'd better be specific about them. And I can tell you, from experience, a baptist girl in a wet t-shirt is not notably more modest than a baptist girl in an ordinary bathing suit.

Exactly who is being tempted by pre-legal male nipples? Not the girls, I can assure you. In all my life, I've never heard a female say "Hey, check out his nipples."
I doubt that this actually was a thong suit. They're not generally sold at the mass retailers where church staff can afford to shop.

When I was in Bible College, there were some weird rules that I simply refused to obey. One wss that we couldn't wear denim in the dining hall on Sundays. I just got fast food and ate on the lawn in front out the donors for whom we were to dress up. The other was that we couldn't wear tennis shoes to church. I went barefoot some off the time. My church was extremely casual and that fit in more than dressing up every would. Not surprisingly, I had a nervous breakdown after a year of one weird time after another and dropped out. I didn't finish school until my late 30's, but it was worth it.

You know, a better person would wonder, "if someone's been a devout Christian for 6 years, and cares enough to go out of her way to help these children, and she sees nothing wrong with wearing this... is it possible that I'm wrong?". A better person might be inclined to consider that perhaps they had misjudged the attitudes of the children in their care, or should update their dress code or at least discuss it. They might believe that a judgment made in honesty could be corrected in a less destructive fashion. They might think that an otherwise model individual could be forgiven a single lapse, you know, like Jesus always talked about.
But then they wouldn't be you.
