If we want to see where we in America are headed, we need only to look at Europe. First it was in France, now it's in England. It doesn't take blinding insight to realize we're next.

Hamtramck, Michigan now has a city council that is majority Muslim. The call to Muslim prayer is broadcast five times a day over the entire city, with the first blast launching at 6 am every day whether Christian residents are offended by it or not.

Am I saying Hamtramck is a no-go zone? Of course not. Am I saying that if something isn't done, it will become one? If there is anything to learn from Europe, the answer to that question is an unequivocal yes.

Concern over untrammelled Muslim immigration is not bigotry, it's common sense. Anyone who loves America and is thinking clearly and objectively has reason to worry. This is not Islamophobia, for there is nothing irrational about our fear of Islamic fundamentalism.

No, it is Islamorealism. And whether you agree with Mr. Trump or not, it's time to bleed the mindless hysteria out of this debate. Name-calling is not debate, disagreement is not hatred, and the truth is not hate speech.

Bottom line: it already looks like England is not just a gun-free zone but on its way to becoming a brain-free zone to boot. Let's not follow them there.

So the islamists are more efficient? After all, they archieved an average of 2.5 kills per attack, while the wingnuts (statistically speaking) only killed one person in slightly more than 7.5% of cases.*
I guess an islamophobe might argue that it means that islamists, even though less murderous in absolute numbers, are still a greater danger than wingnuts, especially if neglected. Although one could also "conclude" that wingnuts are even more stupid than islamists, so we shouldn't listen to them.

* Only noticed that "per year" after rereading. Does this figure include attacks that were prevented, or only those that were carried out (but might have failed to kill anyone)? In that case, the islamists would still lead with a 61.7% victim-to-attack ratio.

Maybe the police officers should kill fewer African-American children, and the rage against them might diminish...

First what was in France? France, as an old colonial power, has close ties with many African countries, and has had a fairly large Arab population for a couple of centuries.
Oh, and what insight tells that the only way to go from France and England is to go to the US?

We have calls to Christian prayer meetings in Sweden. On Sundays the church-bells toll, although few heed them.
Besides, as stated above, ONE Christian was offended and complained, and the call was turned down.

If there is anything to learn from Europe, it's that a higher minimum wage is conducive to society at large. Or that proper sex-ed and access to contraceptives reduce teen pregnancies. Or that fewer guns lead to fewer school shootings. Or...

Anyone who loves Native Americans and was thinking clearly had reason to worry some 400 years ago.

There is also nothing irrational about our fear of Christian Fundamentalism.

In order to bleed the mindless hysteria out of any debate everyone needs to stop listening to people like Trump.

England is not a gun-free zone, it's just that the guns are (mostly) in the hands of hunters and police officers. Ya know, with people who can actually handle them, and realize how dangerous they are.
But with the UKIP more and more in charge, they are moving into the same brain-free zone that Bryan has inhabited for decades...

I thought you said that being armed made you safe, because you can respond to any attack. So carrying a gun is not so helpful now.

To be honest, 6am is a little late for the first call to prayer, especially in summer. If it is fine by the city, what's the problem? I hear the call to prayer five times a day from many mosques where I live, and the effect is rather pleasant, particularly when they're mixed with the cathedral bells.

Why not? You've called places in Europe no-go zones that don't even have the call to prayer.

It seems to me that it could just be a matter of preferring explosive devices to guns, baseball bats, etc. I think that may be the case but at the moment can give no citation. Maj. Nidal Hasans' shooting rampage at Ft. Hood in Texas killed 12 and wounded 31. However, most mass shootings in the U.S. seem to be based on psycho-malfunction rather than ideology. The number of attempted terrorist acts by islamists was 6 per year,involving 9 known subjects per year, averaged, over 13and1/2 years.Only twenty were successfully carried out,resulting in 50 deaths. Fatalities and serious injuries per incident were not stated. The statistics for domestic, anti government terrorism were totaled for a ten year period. Fatalities, but not serious injuries were stated. The Islamists have the more lethal average per actual incident, generally, it appears. Tim McVeighs' Oklahoma City bomb killed 168 and injured over 600, though this was in 1995,and well out of the time range of the material I cited. High explosives seem to be the most effective way to murder large numbers of people.
