IMHO; One can follow Jesus without consciously following him. I interpret his command to spread "The Word" as "Spread my Way". His Way can be found in his teachings....stuff about loving others, good deeds, lifting up "the little guy", etc.
Frankly; I think many non-Christians and non-believers in a Higher Power are more Christian than you.
Also; That bit with "The Great Commission" was added to The Gospel of Mark was added much later.
The concept of "Religious Exclusivity" is demiurgic. Heck; Who says one can't be an "honorary Christian" in addition to practicing another faith?
Time to rethink how faiths are perceived and followed.
Some Hindus see Siddhartha Gautama as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the second in the Hindu Trinity ('Second in the Trinity', sound familiar?).
I see Jesus as an incarnation of Vishnu.
....So; While The Buddha himself never said he was a Deity, some Hindus decided he was Vishnu, and I see the Nazarene as an aspect of Vishnu (since to me, all Higher Powers are one-and-the-same)....therefore....BUDDHISTS ARE CHRISTIANS AND YOU ARE A DUMBASS!
************
TO THOSE CONFUSED: I see an interconnection between Hinduism and Christianity. HaShem and Brahman are the same thing and both have Trinities....
* The Father/Brahma The Creator
* The Son-Christ-Jesus/Vishnu The Preserver
* The Holy Spirit-Paraclete/Shiva the Dissolver-Transformer
They also have a Female aspect. The Trinity/Trimurti is dual-gendered (and I believe the 'Jesus & Mary Magdalene were an item' concept)....
* The Mother-Madonna/Sarasvati-Brahmi
* The Daughter-Christ-Magdalene/Lakshmi-Vishnavi
* The Holy-Spirit-Pneuma/Shakti-Shivani-Parvati-Sati-Uma-Gauri
....There's more to this but that's the gist.
