(thread topic: is morality possible without god?)
The answer is NO if you believe the traditions an dogma of the Church. On the other hand if you believe 'god' is any power and/or authority that a person submits to, then yes, morality IS possible without 'God'. This is why Atheists who are NOT sociopaths are just cowards.

Congratulations 'Oceanic People', I can honestly say I've never seen so many logical errors contained in so few words.
You've just beaten the previous record holder; Ken Ham. Well done (I think).
Okay, if only your section of your religion of your god is right, then a lot of people are sociopaths since morality comes from that particular god, yes?
Lol! So, like most gods, specially Bible God and His followers, they are desperate and impotent wimps that know they are gullible numpties, shaking in the dark like shivering scaredy-cats afraid of reality and atheism and rapidly succumbing to insanity.
If you don't believe the traditions and dogma of the Church, and instead see all the atrocities it has done throughout history, the answer is YES, and a new question arises whether morality is possible WITH a god.
No, this is why atheists who are not sociopaths are non-religious. Sociopath is not something you choose to be, btw. It's a mental error, that might be innate or come from a brain injury.
This is actually less logically consistent than the view morality comes from God.
If you define morality as submission to power and/or authority you either a) end up invoking "God" in the sense many Christian Apologetics claim or b) you follow the chain up and discover that you're ultimately obeying a power or authority that is not moral since there's no higher power / authority for them to submit too, which logically means that they can't be used as a source of morality.
ETA - Well you can also claim some kind of recursive morality from "respect to humanity" or equivalent but that's a perfect serviceable moral source without need for submission or authority anyway.
We don't worship civilization, the law or common decency, we don't give these things a supernatural identity BECAUSE IT ISN'T IN ANY WAY NEEDED.
"if you believe 'god' is any power and/or authority that a person submits to"
This is working off this stupid belief they have that if you're not a religious person then you're still worshipping something or someone. Ray Comfort pulls this shit " So you don't think there's a God and religions pointless, so What do you like? Oh Video games, so you worship X-Box"
Ray does this in attempt to anger or belittle (regular tactic) but in general fundamentalists are taught this "everyone worships" shit to make their flock feel better about submission.
This is why Atheists who are NOT sociopaths are just cowards.
Yes, they're afraid of ... well, what exactly are they supposed to be afraid of? I thought it was you guys who worry about God's judgment and going to hell.
Confused?
