I rather liked one fictional Satan, in End of Days, who fully admits who he is, and what he's doing . . . and says he's not really all that different from God, it's just God has a better PR department.
If things go well, "it's all the Will of God." If things go bad, "God works in Mysterious Ways." (Bit of paraphrasing.)
Of course, all this said while Arnie is trying to shoot him while walking around Arnie's apartment.
And say what you want . . . it stands up to scrutiny as a serious argument. Everything wonderful in your life is the will of the Lord God, giving you great wonders. Everything you lose, every person who dies, no matter how . . . even if your wife and daughter are killed by psychopathic mob members (and it does happen in real life!), that is God working in mysterious ways. And never, at any time, is it just the way things go, because that's the way things went . . . and the choices people made.
