Ted Cruz on Monday equated Democrats with violent crime.
In an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Monday, the Texas senator said that “the simple and undeniable fact is the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats.”
In the same interview, the Texas Republican added, “There’s a reason why the Democrats for years have been viewed as soft on crime. The Democrats know convicted felons tend to vote Democrat.”

Yes, and the demographic of convicted felons who vote amount to a fart in a wind tunnel. Definitely worth wooing. /sarcasm
Thanks for that gem, Ted "Porcelain" Cruz.
"[T]he simple and undeniable fact is the overwhelming majority of white supremacists are Republicans."
"There’s a reason why the Republicans for years have been viewed as soft on racism. The Republicans know diehard white racists tend to vote Republican."
FIXED.
See how easy it is to turn tables, Calgary Ted?
And as you were born in Canada, I equate you with Mitt '47%' Romney: like him, you won't win next year.
Why have the previously Conservative Latinos made such a dramatic demographic shift and voted Democrat , Tom Cruz Control? Because they know who's on the winning side? Perhaps. Or maybe, they just know .
Texas. The whole 'Mexico' thing. Said Latino demographic. You don't know your arse from an Enchilada, Tommy-boy. And this may be your own '47%'.
Like I say: I equate you with the Mor(m)on who came out with that campaign-destroying crack.
2016. One more weapon in the Democrats' arsenal.
Bad news Ted. I've lived in red states nearly all my life. What you're asserting is not true, you're bullshitting. There are people who love to hear that crap, wich you cheerfully titillate them with. Pants on fire Cruz.
it possible that he was factually right, but he ignore every historical context.
many felonies in the south were defined in a way that targeted Democrat constituencies in the Jim crow era, alongside laws that prevent felons from voting. in many places minorities still suffer higher indictment and incarnation rates and harsher punishments on the same actions.
as for "tough on crime" laws, most of those passed in a bi-partisan way. with time, Liberals saw that some of those aren't effective, too costly or even harmful, and change their mind. Democrats might be more willing to check examples from the rest of the world and decide based on the data.
none of it matter, since Cruz prefer to be seen as "tough on crime", and advise people who worried about crime to arm themselves.
Because any criminal who regrets his crimes and tries to turn his life around should have no choice but to turn to crime again...
Ah, I forgot. They will never get that chance because all suspected criminals who are not gunned down preventively by a true patriot* will be thrown into a brutal hellhole that no one* leaves alive (or dead, for the matter).
*obviously, excluding True 'Murican Patriots, white preachers of True Christianity, and millionaires, who would never do anything wrong anyways and thus must have been wrongfully framed for political reasons by Democrats.
Jesus was a firm believer in forgiveness, mercy, second chances and redemption, surrounding himself with the low end of the society, repeatedly going out of the way to reach out to particularly despised groups like adulteresses and toll-collectors (who were collaborators of the Roman Empire) like Zacchaeus and saying things like "Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her", "Judge not, the ye be not judged" and "Blessed are the merciful: for they will be shown mercy." Being "tough on crime" seems very un-Christian. But of course, we already know that you do not actually care about Jesus, only for a few cherry-picked lines that you can use to rationalise your bigotries passages like that are forgeries by evil gay leftist satanist atheist liberal communist evolutionist Democrats, just like all that nonsense condemning wealth and demanding compassion even towards enemies...
You should at least improve conditions in your prisons - there is a lot of preventable homosexuality going on there!
I read about violent crimes like assault and burglary and other felonies being committed in my county paper every week (well, people being arrested for those crimes), and my rural Tennessee county voted by far in favour of Mitt Romney in 2012. And I wonder how many felons in prison would vote Republican if they didn't have their voting rights taken from them?
Sorry, Ted, Republicans are committing violent crime at comparable rates.
And people this biased and full of crap are allowed to be in positions of authority...
Let me guess, all the gun fetish nutjobs that walk around the US shooting up everybody are all Democrats, no exeptions? After all, we all know it's the "Demoncrats" that try their hardest to get all lunatics armed to the teeth while the "good Republicans" are trying to stop gun violence with gun control!
Ted Cruz just gives me another reason to hate Republicans and to never vote for him. ...Should I ever move to the US (unlikely).
What this is: to position yourself as the right-wing candidate now, you have to sound as much as possible like a right-wing Internet troll. For years now, whenever any crime has occurred, right wing Internet trolls have been posting that the criminal is a Democrat, Liberal, Obama voter, or simply "an Obama."
Of course those terms are also used as euphemisms for black people, as in "look at all those damned Obama voters walking around with their pants on the ground, listening to their rap 'music'. I can't wait to stand my ground and exercise my right to self defense against every single one of them."
Of course, this dickhead, or somebody just like him, really could be our next president.
Citation needed, but even if it were true, maybe its because Democrats actually care about the rights of prisoners.
Ted, did you know that convicts lose the right to vote, even when they're released?
That's something assholes like you wrote into law, and decent people keep trying to get repealed.
If I were a convict, I know who I'd support.
@ NotaReptile
With some states depending on the crime, some actually do get their voting rights back after a certain amount time. I'm not entirely which states, but I do know that Washington state is one of those states.
@NotaReptile
Excuse me for asking, but why should felons (assuming they're actually guilty of course) ever be allowed to vote again? Even if they regret their crimes or whatever, disenfranchisement is not really a punishment so much as a recognition that they're not the best people to be deciding who should make our laws (or indeed, in many states, what the laws should be) if they can't follow those laws themselves.
Confused?
