On 2nd January 2018, the private rail companies in Britain decided - without any notification in advance: online, in the press etc - to make a sudden & drastic increase in fares. Due to 'the time of year'; it being after the holiday season.

So many Conservative voters - when asked - said that they wouldn't be averse to the rail companies being renationalised & returned to what it was prior to Maggie Thatcher (*spit*) privatising such: the state-owned British Rail.
