[After the Vermont legislature legalized gay marriage in the state]
I await the volcanoes, the tsunamis, the hurricanes and hopefully, the destruction of Vt and its pacifist secular socialism by the Lord. I actually do want it to happen with good Americans being protected as we see in the OT, when God protects believers that do good and trust the Lord. Since VT doesn’t seem to believe in the Biblical God or His standards, perhaps a nice lesson in humility would be a nice taste of God’s wrath. Oh I know, that is sooooo cruel.

Yeah, 'cause your fictional, impotent god has done sooooo much to "punish" the other states that have done exactly the same thing.
Nevermind the other COUNTRIES that have done exactly the same thing.
There are no volcanoes in Vermont. Tsunamis won't happen there either. Same with hurricanes unless they turn into noreasters, then maybe it might be a problem. Otherwise, Vermont is pretty safe from the "wrath of god".
Well, considering there isn't an active volcano even remotely close to Vermont, I doubt very much if that's going to be an issue. Oh, and both your god and you are pricks, especially you considering we know you actually exist(unfortunately).
And when none of this happens, that WILL convince you that your god is either imaginary, or doesn't give a shit about your prejudices right? I'll give you a month, phillyfanatic. After that, I expect your humble confession.
Facts about Vermont: It is landlocked. It's also located in a place that has no volcanic activity and no known faults that can cause an earthquake. Hurricanes? Not in that climate. And it contributes 20 billion US$ as GDP to the US economy.
I should forward this piece of American thought process to Colbert.
Your god doesn't mind wars, bigotry, rape, or crime. He only cares about gay marriage. What a sense of priorities.
phillyfanatic here's a thought, why is it that states that are more conservative like the Carolinas, Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi are more likely to be hit by hurricanes whereas Massachusetts and Vermont are hardly touched by them?
And why is it that the conservative midstates are the ones that get tornadoes?
As far as I know there are no volcanoes in the New England states.
If you're gonna preach natural disasters as the wrath of god, you might want to rethink whether he's really angry at homosexuality.
I was wundring if the erthquakees in Italy could be GODS wrath for VT allowing the FAGS to MARRY? Also, the shooting in NEW YORK where the asain man shot them people's, could that ALSLO be ANOTHER sign.
Wenever I THINK of the Fearful wrath of the LORD I tremble.
HE will NOT be mocked!!
What do YOU people THINK?
50% of all tornadoes have occurred in the Bible Belt states. Since 1950, 70 major hurricanes hit the Bible Belt, compared to one that hit Massachusetts in 1954. When does God intend to start protecting believers?
since phillyfanatic here thinks that the ebil states should be punished by god, i would like to know what his impotent "god" intends to do about iowa now that gay marriage is legal. no volcanos, no ocean, nowhere near any fault lines. of course, there are plentiful tornados, but those have been happening long before iowa turned "evil".
So when S Carolina or Texas get pounded by a hurricane, you can just blame it on Vermont. That seems to me to be the way your god operates. Somebody pisses him off over here, beat the shit out of someone over there. What a great system.
(edit-Yay! edit button back!) @#936579: actually there is a fault line around us in Iowa somewhere. Not a big one, and generally more towards Missouri, but still, we get a few shakers now and then.
::sits back with a large bowl of popcorn::
Yes, yes, let's see what "the Lord" has in store for Vermont...
Here in Toronto, as in the rest of Canada, gay marriage has been around for a few years now. No tsunamis in Lake Ontario, as far as I can tell. God must not like Canadians enough to get all wrathful on us. Alas.
Good Americans in the Old Testament?
I can imagine your prayer:
Dear God, please kill all the people I think you should, and spare those who don't piss me off.
I doubt you will get your wish, somehow.
Fundies sure do like awaiting, huh?
P.s. How dare you besmirch the name of such a noble and ambiguously speciated mascot.
I await...he destruction of Vt and its pacifist secular socialism by the Lord.
The population of Vermont in 2007 was 621,254 Humans according to the U.S. Census Bureau (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/50000.html )
Why do nearly 630,000 Humans need to die to make you feel better about what the Vermont legislature gets up to?
So phillyfanatic is a fucking cretin and he thinks his God is too. Is that right phillyfanatic, God is a fucking cretin? The truth is, God's probably ok, if He exists, but stupid morons, like phillyfanatic, use the idea of a moronic God to bolster their moronic natures. You might as well be a poe, or a superstitious primitive, for all the sense you make. Or maybe an impotent, raging child that's never going to grow up.
I live in BC where same-sex marriage is legal.
BC also has a shit-ton of volcanoes, we're prone to earthquakes and to some extent: tsunamis. Guess what douche-bag, we're still here.
Sure god probably wants to destroy our heathen lil province, but as soon as he tries he ends up getting a contact high than gets sidetracked buying a 100 pack of Timbits.
"I actually do want it to happen with good Americans being protected as we see in the OT"
LOL WUT?!?! Citation please.
Can someone please tell me where these 'good Americans' are found in the Old Testament?
And I was all like, "Volcanoes, in Vermont? Are there volcanoes in Vermont? I don't think there are. Now Hawaii, yeah, but Vermont? Don't think so."
And it turns out that phillyfanatic is even more deluded than we thought.
This would have been a bit more believa ble if he took Vermont's landlocked location into account and made his disasters Vermont-style. The occasional hurricane would flood rivers. Noreasters and blizzards are very common. This winter there was a terrible ice storm that left many without power (and heat) for days. Nothing of that here, just the volcanoes that aren't here- it's neither a hot spot, a rift, not a subduction zone, and tsunamis are coastal events. You fail geology and weather and climate.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
Oh I know, that is sooooo cruel.
Actually it's sooooo stupid. As the people on this thread have amply demonstrated. If you're the type to get into heaven, I can't wait for hell.
Yes, actually, it is sooooo cruel, and you enjoy the idea sooooo much that it's sickening. But I won't wish a "nice lesson in humility" on you, even though you seem like you need it much more than any Vermont legislature. No, I will simply say, as a proud Pittsburgh Penguins fan, that Philly can have you!
"and hopefully, the destruction of Vt and its pacifist secular socialism by the Lord."
peace is an evil satanic conspiracy!
The tsunamis would have to wash all the way over New Hampshire. Unless they are coming from Lake Champlain? And here in New England we don't see a lot of lava flows. I suppose a hurricane could do some damage, but again, Vermont is inland, plus as hurricanes move north they lose much of their power in all but rare occasions. Time to put the bible down and read some geography.

Yes, because if there's anything that Vermont needs to be afraid of, it's volcanoes, tsunamis and hurricanes.
Oh yeah, wanting to kill close to 630,000 people just for disagreeing with you. Yeah, that's acceptable behavior alright, if your name happens to be Adolf.

We in the UK have had the very socialist National Health Service since the late 1940s. A welfare state too. Homosexuality was legalised in 1967. We've had Civil Partnership ceremonies for years now.
...nope, still no hurricanes, tsunamis - and the most a volcano has done to us is ground most of our airliners recently. No Pompeii-esque cataclysm for us.
Perhaps that is a nice lesson in humility for right-wing Fundamentalist Christians (check one):
[ ] God is a fucking awful shot when it comes to his 'wrath'. Or he's just an inferior, not so omnipotent, powerless milquetoast of a so-called 'deity'.
[ ] 'God' doesn't exist. Shit happens; two words: Tornado Alley.
Choose wisely.
Two years and counting, you bigoted, hateful twit. The tides of time are against you, and you'll be a happier human being if you adapt sooner than later to acceptance.
Confused?
