A lot of Italians are sick of the immigrant invasion, which Pope Francis supports.
If these Italians came to power, it’d be the easiest thing in the world to take Vatican City, depose Francis and put Benedict (or another) on the throne of St. Peter.
I know it’s extreme, but things are getting extreme.

I know the Swiss Guard looks silly in their Renaissance Fair costumes, but they only wear those for ceremony. On the actual job, they kit out in tac gear and assault rifles.
Oh stop. The whole anti immigration thing is 50% petty tribalism and 50% DEY TERK ER JERBS. Oh yeah, and there's no way in hell a bunch of right wing militia fanatics would do any good. The Swiss guard are not to be trifled with, their kit on duty is modern as mentioned above, and should things get hairy, they can call on the Italian army for support.
I was curious what created this latest plague of anti-immigrant sentiment. It seems to be a combination of economic stressors - there are limited jobs as Italy still recovers from the global financial crisis - and of how populist politicians are trading in fear to improve their polling numbers.
Italy has a population of nearly 61 million, eight percent of which are permanent immigrants. The top five contributors are Romania, Albania, Morocco, China, and Ukraine. *
Somehow I doubt the East European immigrants are being shot in isolated incidents by unknown assailants.

Why not the other way around? His Holiness Pope Francis could start a new immigration inquisition and globally order the arrest, torture, and painful execution of all those opposed to immigration.
