Look to Europe to see how they are repaid for their generosity and how a tipping point is emerging in the Right direction.
As for all of that wasted tax money on embedding foreign cultures into the Host or revisionist propaganda regarding the Head Tax, this all needs to be repaid back to Canada.
Yu knows very well, the Head Tax was completely fair and necessary to Canada's protection from foreign entities and an apology or any restitution is a trick and a theft upon Canada.

This guy is completely unlike any Canadians I met when I was there, embedded in their culture. They were some of the nicest, friendlies people I've ever met. This guy, however, is a dick.
I don't know what world you're living in, but I see folks mildly interested to deeply involved in Chinese culture here in the US.
Chinese food is beloved, eastern philosophy/religion receives strong interest, Chinese language is taught in schools, even Asian architectural design elements have their following.
I admit my location in an area of Los Angeles county which has a high Asian population may bias me a bit, but that's enough to deny the premise that "no one here in North America wants..."

This whole thing is a conglomeration of idiots, both white supremacists and Asian supremacists screaming that they should be in charge because the "other side" is MUCH worse than they are, and both sides ironically using the same stupid arguments and missing that the other side is also using the same stupid arguments.
I don't know about anyone else here, but I can guess why Canada's politicians are somewhat wary of Chinese investments, and it ain't because they're white supremacists or anti-Asian or any of that. It's likely because Chinese investors have a history of sending profits back to China at the expense of the country they're investing in, weakening that country's economy. The USA has shown signs of it over the years.
However, acting like Chinese immigrants to Canada are an invading force is Trump-level stupidity. And blaming multiculturalism of all things? Just WTF?

Ugh, no, it's some stupid racist thing we did up here at the dawn of the 20th Century, to discourage the yellow hordes from invading our shores and building our precious railroads and thereby unifying the country, while earning a pittance in return and frequently getting killed working the rails. Basically, you were taxed based on how Chinese you were. If you were, oh...Chinese at all, you paid. Not Chinese? Don't worry about it.
This, the internment of Japanese citizens, the Reservation schools, the whole...everything with the First Nations, just the most heinous crime committed by Canada on the human race.
But, at least we know these things happened, steps were taking to rectify them ages ago, and things are much better now that we know how to not be assholes.
