2016 FSTDT Awards Winners!!
Help Syrian War Victims
The forums are back!! Well, back with
anyway. The name's still FQA for the time being, but they will be renamed back to the FSTDT Forums soon.
Did some more gruntwork on the code, this time focusing on refactoring QuoteComment.aspx's code and 'translating' it into VB, though a few addtions and fixes have also been made.
Removed the hook to the post 'preprocessor', placing its code inline.
Quote and comment submissions are now automatically reformatted to remove unnecessary whitespace.
A few other 'nonexistent' changes. ;]
We now have five people manning and approving quotes: Pharaoh, Zachski, Ravy, mikeytron, and myself (though the others have been doing all the work lately while I work on other parts of the site).
Got a VPS now! Sometime late this summer, FSTDT will begin transitioning to a setup with FreeBSD, Nginx, Mono/ASP.NET, and PostgreSQL. The beta of the new site will coincide with a complete rewrite of FSTDT's code.
Meet the new boss folks!
Search has been completely re-written, added an archive filter and fixed a known issue.
Fixed the issue I could find in the edit comment function
Added "There are no quotes" text to the archive pages to make the 1st of the month less confusing
Early version of image resizing and comment collapsing added. Click on an image to bring it to toggle it between reduced and full size. Click on the colored comment header to hide a comment.
Quote issue adding mechanism added to Public Admin. Make a note of an issue in the new Issue text box when voting and it will be displayed under known issues for other voters and to the administration to fix.
Forums have been moved to their own
and are under new management. Any accounts, posts or other data from the last incarnation of the forums are available.
Thank Sigmaleph and Kradorex for it not disappearing completely.
I have a pile of half finished updates that I'm not letting hold registration up any longer. Submitted quote visibility, claiming and modifications are first on my list, followed by the ability to display these publicly if you so choose. Due to other concerns I'm not sure when the updates will take place.
Pre-Registration open, if you never had an old forum account, but you've used the site and want to stake out your claim, now is the time. As for why, check
Added Anchors to the FAQ.
Added Reasons to Register to the FAQ
Contact information shuffled into the FAQ
Improved the award addition interface. Moderators are now able to add awards with far less effort, so you'll probably see far more.
Plans for open registration are set for the near future, depending on pre-registration turn out.
The first stages of the expanded user content are planned for shortly after open registration begins.
Significant alterations to comment tracking:
If you are signed in, your username will be recorded as the author for any comment you make
If someone was signed in when they made a comment it will appear bold and underlined, at least until I get the user pages completed.
Names on comments may no longer take advantage of BBcodes
User Registration is in it's final phases of testing, it should be active within a week.
Fixed up the paging mechanism, it will no longer display the page you are currently on as a link
Comments now have an anchor on them that allows for linking directly to a comment.
Reclaiming the .com domain, added some redirects to keep people from bouncing off the new site due to structure differences.
Fixed ancient issue with public admin, you no longer lose the quote you closed the page on, it'll be waiting for you next time.
Did some shuffling with the database, should improve performance by 50% on the server.
Added RSS feeds, your browser should now have an active button on it, unless you're using chrome which seems to be remarkably unhappy with the feeds.
Fixed Dates on the Quote Comment pages
A little formating
A lot of cleaning, Fixed up this page and the
Secret Mod things(which I've owed them for at least two months)
Removed Ability to URL hack to deleted quotes
URL hacked pages should no longer throw errors

Fixed up some overly senstive URL variables

Last second addition, the donate button now works across browsers. Which is good, since about 60% of you guys work through FireFox.
Fixed a number of errors with the search page, tweaked search and almost every other quote related page to help the site run a bit faster
Be sure to contribute to the

Latest comments page finally looked at, rewrote it to work faster and correctly this time. Plus, voting!

After some arguments with
PayPal the button has returned
, if you feel the need go a head, but the site is pretty well set for 5 more months as is. Unless of course you want to be a sweetheart and pay for my new dev tools and this 1900 page book I've picked up on .NET 3.5(that'd total 260 bucks, so I'm mostly joking)
Fixed latest comments
My apologies about the errors, fucked around a bit more than I should have in trying to save some extra data, which caused an explosion due to the old format.
Friends of FSTDT!
Search Page Fixed up and released. Linked to from PublicAdmin for those quotes that seem familiar.
Front Page given some of it's old personality back, looking for replacements for the conspiracy image though.
Not much at the moment guys, just doing some quick swaping out.
Though I have picked a new offical background color of the moment, it's an obvious one if you think about it #666
Formatted Comments have returned!
