[Responding to the accusation of flat out denying evidence]
HA! I've been waiting for a chance to post this one;
"So shall it be at the end of the world, the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth"-Matthew 13:49-50.
Come and get it aliens! All the evil you can eat or feed your chupacabras! Angels kill the evilest third of the population, who aren't arrested instead in Rev 9. ufoevidence.org

OK, with purely religious stuff, I can usually see how it might make sense within the head of the fundie saying it, but I don't have the software to figure out what the hell John16colon2 is trying to say.

I nearly had whiplash trying to spot the logic of that statement.

So, which journal of biblical scholarship was it that first presented this interpretation of Revelations -- National Enquirer or Weekly World News?

Quick question, TDR- Have you ever played Myst IV: Revelation? (If you haven't, don't worry, it has nothing to do with the Bible.)
I have all five Myst games. Myst IV is called \"Revelation,\" and I was struck by your comment; the juxtaposition of \"Revelation,\" and \"mushroom dream.\" In the game, there's one world in which you enter a \"dream world\" by falling asleep inside a mushroom. (Well, some form of fungus.)
No reason to assume anyone here's played it; I was just struck by that comment. At least my natural tendency to form associations between unrelated events didn't lead me to believe God cured my cold three months ago, or something!

Maronan - no I haven't. I have, however, read \"Good Omens\" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman an inordinate number of times and they refer to St John the Divine as a mushroom fan.

I hope John doesn't have access to any guns and/or sharp objects. He's definitely batshit insane.

I'm not convinced you can even see batshit insane from where John is standing.
I think some kind of Non Sequitur of the Month Award is due here.
