Quote# 93700

[A father whips his two daughters with a cable wire as punishment. The girls are balled into a corner, screaming, crying, and begging him to stop.]

Is anybody but me upset that the Nanny State government is inserting themselves into his private life and trying to tell him how to raise his kids? It’s government overreach. This government interference with a parents ability to discipline their kids is exactly what happened in Germany when Hitler rose to power. And we all know how that turned out.

Enough with the Hitler references any time the government does something you don't like. Especially when the reality was the EXACT FUCKING OPPOSITE!

It's not about telling people how they raise their kids. It's about preventing violent physical abuse of human beings.

Someone elsewhere noted that if an adult strikes another adult, it's assault/battery. But when a parent strikes a child, it's child-raising. That's the kind of insanity that we're working against here.

Godwin = instant fail. End of argument.

That beating, though brief, was brutal. I can't imagine how anyone could justify it.

Bad Wolf

If you have to resort to beating your children with cables then you have failed as a parent (and as a human being).
I have to wonder what the "offense" was, how old the daughters are, and how turned on "daddy" was when he was beating them.

Bad Wolf: They posted videos of themselves twerking.

The entire thread made me feel physically sick.

Punishing child abusers and taking children away from them is not what caused Hitler to rise to power. Try again.

I hope not. What this scumbag is doing isn't discipline, it's abuse.

Hitler

GODWIN! You lose.

Seriously, protecting children from abuse does not lead to Nazi Germany. Stop telling people that everything you oppose leads to Nazism.

1. If Hitler would have stopped parents from whipping their kids, I would give kudos to Hitler for geting something right.
2. He didn't. My grandparents often enough said they were beaten as kids and they grew up in Nazi Germany.
3. This isn't "government overreach", the government that keeps people from beating other people is doing exacty what it's there do to. And it doesn't matter whether that's parents and kids, husband and wife or two complete strangers.

4/12/2013 4:15:12 AM

LDM

There's discipline, and there's abuse. And when there are parents who don't know the difference, that's when the government steps in and rightfully so.

Your right to parent your child ends when your child's health, safety and/or life is at risk by your actions.

Here in modern Germany, we'd take his children away and him to jail.

That's called being civilized.

Not wanting kids to be beaten and abused is Hitlerian... Ultra conservatives must live in an alternate dimension. The liberal bias of reality is just too much for them.

And yet, they want the government to interfere in the lives of same sex couples so they can't adopt or foster children, hmmm....

Doubting Thomas

Someone actually defending child abuse. How nice. I wish Sendthemeteors would suffer the same beating those girls received just to see how he likes it.

But remember folks, having children being raised by gay couples is bad, but heterosexual couples beating their children with a cable is good.

Whipping isn't disciplining. Whipping is a sadistic punishment, and it is the whipper who is out of control, not the daughters.

If the daughters are old enough they should bring legal charges against the father. If they are under age, then child protection agency should step in and deal with the vicious bastard. Being a parent means correcting and guiding your child with love - not savage abuse.

This is just horrible. And I'm hoping that Sendthemetoers is a troll and doesn't really believe what he is saying. I hope the "nanny state" lives up to it's name in this instance and takes these children into care.

@MK
I wish you'd been around when I was a child.

Okay, what you're doing here is assuming without any actual consideration that everything that that the government did in pre-war Germany consequently lead to the war.

This is no different than assuming that your underwear is lucky because you scored both times you wore them. It's superstition and you should feel bad.

Hitler also commended staff that quit smoking; are you going to suggest that quitting smoking leads to fascism?

4/12/2013 5:26:17 AM

Einar

I suppose if someone beat you with a cable wire it wouldn't be a crime. Right.

Hitler? Really, really?

4/12/2013 5:29:51 AM

Mister Spak

Nazi Gernamy outlawed abortion, gay rights, the teaching of evolution and encouraged citizens to own guns, the better to shoot lower races. And we all know how that turned out.

@ Mister Spak

Brilliant. I could not have stated it better myself. Food for thought for those who are trying to force these very same ideals on America. Then again, they do seem to secretly admire Hitler's actions...

4/12/2013 5:45:38 AM

@MK:

The difference is that there is something called parental responsibility. That is something we do not have for adults. If these kids grow up to be incredibly disruptive members of society through any of the means we see youth growing up nowadays, it is the parents that would be blamed.

Damned if you, damned if you don't.

Baked Goods

This has to be the most distastefully frivolous Godwin I've ever seen.

Also, I sincerely hope those kids find a decent foster family, and that animal of a father gets his due time behind bars.

4/12/2013 6:16:04 AM

You really don't know a thing about Hitler, do you?
