As I’ve posted here before, The US needs to forget about the Middle East and invade Mexico. Colonize the place, teach them English, get rid of the drug dealers, pump out the oil, and provide cheap agricultural and manufacturing jobs. We can do a better job of running their country then they can. Then the Mexicans will stay in their own country and stop coming up here, and the US will have a “buffer” against more serious threats from Central and South America.

Yep, invade Mexico, and in a few years you'll be saying the same thing about Guatemala. Then Belize, Honduras and El Salvador. And so on, down to Chile, whereupon you'll decide there is no option but to invade Canada. (This is assuming that you'd be successful. And how many lives are you prepared to lose in the process?)

Also, according to Wikipedia, it sounds like they're doing quite nicely for themselves despite the terrible tragedy of their not being part of the USA:

(And although you doubtless consider Wikipedia to have some sort of crypto-Marxist-pagan-fascist-pinko "agenda", you'll find the same statistics all over the web).

If we do anything involving Mexico it should be to return Texas to them. Unfortunately, the Mexicans have too much sense to agree to something like that so we're stuck with Texas for the foreseeable future.

You realize that we can't even manage that here in the U.S., right?

We can send them the Repubican party. Maybe they can practice running Mexico first before they try running the U.S.

If you colonize Mexico then Mexico becomes a U.S. territory which means that Mexicans would be free to come and go in the U.S. as the like, moron. Colonizing them certainly wouldn't keep them in Mexico.
