It is not an exaggeration to say that betting against anything that a group of women think is a good idea, is a very solid strategy. Remember, women rely on groupthink, and invest (or force their husband to invest) in a manner that prioritizes groupthink rather than actual returns.
Mortgaged houses, gold, and Facebook shares are all things women thought were superb investments. Hence, all three are terrible.

I'm gonna need some sources for these claims buddy
And dare you tell me the "powerful men" don't "groupthink"
Didn't get laid much right ?
It's been said once, it's been said six million times; we need a Sexists Say the Darndest Things subsection.
I mean, it feels like practically every third quote that gets submitted nowadays qualifies as such.

But I thought you wingnuts were all obsessed with gold - something that, like guns, you just can't have too much of in these dark days of approaching apocalypse! Incidentally, the accusations of groupthink are hilarious coming from a member of the "manosphere": something that's looking more and more like a bona fide cult every day, what with its idiotic jargon (eg "red pill", "rationalization hamster", "misandry") and general conformity (just witness, for example, the sheer number of Manosphereans who're into shit like "Game" and the paleo diet, and who think Vox Day's the greatest thinker ever to have walked the earth).
I'll be for a "Sexist Say The Darndest Things" if there's some guarantee that it won't devolve into "oh noes some guy said something sexist, see how privileged and eeeeeevil those privileged menz are!"
Class consciousness is horseshit. We are all individuals, we must needs only judge everyone individually. Just as this man is wrong to judge women collectively, we must have some promise that the Social Justice types stop holding all men accountable for "privilege" like it's some sort of original sin.
The world isn't divided into feminists and MRAs.
But hey, either you're a woman and you hate men so much you want to hold them responsible for everything bad in your life by wielding the "privilege" club, or you're a man who's easily guilted and easily affected by said club.
That I think this is horseshit doesn't make me one of those psycho MRAs.
Fuck off.
@1497246
Once you can prove that women get paid as much as men do (for equal work, of course) you might have a point.
Until then, take your club and hit yourself. Hard.
Ireyon: To deny moral equivalency is to demand moral superiority.
And I have no use for supremacists of any stripe, be they white supremacists, male supremacists, or female supremacists.
Since when was gold ever a bad investment? When all hell is about to break loose, people scramble for it because they know that even if the economy goes completely down the porcelain potty hole, gold will always be valuable.
Plenty of quotes for the SSTDT section right here in this thread. There's a lot of MRAs pounding the keyboard these days, and for much the same reason as there are a lot of Tea Partiers wailing these days; the days of white male privilege are numbered, and they don't like it. Tough shit.
"Mortgaged houses" used to be one of the safest investments there were, until greedy, overwhelmingly MALE con-artists on Wall Street induldged in groupthink and started pulling tricks like bundling bad ones with good ones and then selling them to investors of BOTH genders as AAA rated stock.
Mortgages? Invented and sold in beginning in an era where women were most umlikely to have been involved in banking.
Gold? You must be kidding.
Facebook share? Zuckerberg's a woman? And, please show that of all the brokers in the world, most Facebook shares were sold by women.
Rather than that nonsense, I think you're just another unlikeable a$$hat who can't get a date.
"women rely on groupthink"
Oh boy. You're not going to last very long on 4chan then; least of all /b/.
"and invest (or force their husband to invest) in a manner that prioritizes groupthink rather than actual returns"
So the Illuminati are women ?! Well, that's the whole concept of 'Sexism' fucked then, if you've just admitted that women are superior to men - in every conceivable way?! [/hyper-sarcasm]
That's also the basis of your entire argument annihilated too, WTF.
Mortgaged houses depend entirely on your ability to pay the mortgage and on their location. If it's in a location in solid demand and you can pay the mortgage, chances are it's a very good investment. If you can't afford to pay or you're in an area where demand is low or fickle, chances are it's not. This isn't difficult.
Gold has been a relatively good investment compared to dollars. It's less so compared to other currencies and less still compared to other commodities such as wheat or oil. Investing in the stock market as a whole over the last thirty years would also have reaped much greater rewards than investing in gold.
Facebook shares were an obvious thing to stag, that is to buy on flotation and then sell immediately. If you had done that, chances are you would have made a tidy profit. The trick was just not to hang on to them. Now, Facebook may well be a stock to hold long-term - Facebook shares have risen by a third in the last three months. So, not such a bad investment after all.
So, two cheers for the women - if you could find the slightest evidence for this ludicrous statement.
Misandry is a thing, you know?
That said, this guy is an asshat to think what he thought, and fairly dumb to boot.
If a group of women told TFH NOT to jump off a cliff, he would do it.
Personally, I have no problem listening to groups of women as long as they're all named Helen.
It be not a exaggeration ta say dat bettin against anythang dat a crew of dem hoes be thinkin be a phat idea, be a straight-up solid game. Remember, dem hoes rely on groupthink, n' invest (or force they homeboy ta invest) up in a manner dat prioritizes groupthink rather than actual returns.
Mortgaged houses, gold, n' Facebizzle shares is all thangs dem hoes thought was supab investments yo. Hence, all three is terrible.
If Hillary Clinton became president, the heads of MRAs would explode. But how do you reckon they'd react if Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann became president, given that most of them are right-wingers? Do they classify Palin and Bachmann as two of the "few good women"?
@Mayhem
Gold has always been one of the best investments to make. It's the actual thing that holds the monetary value represented by coins and paper money.
Careful with the wording there. The value of gold is still an agreed-upon social abstraction. It's true that gold holds this value more easily than fiat currency, but it too is dependent on the total amount in circulation and the state of the economy.
If I had to choose something with intrinsic value, regardless of other things that make currency useful, I would choose distilled water. It is a critical resource for survival no matter what the prevailing economic theory is. Gold, not so much (again disregarding other considerations that make gold and paper bills convenient as a currency).
Ok, why do these MRAs make literally no sense when they talk to each other? I read a bit of the conversation and they write horribly. I had to read some of their things 3 times to decipher them, and even then after, they were still really shitty, and unrelated arguments.
I've noticed this on almost all MRA sites.
@aebars
Probably not. Quite a few MRAs believe that all women, not just feminists, are essentially conniving man haters out to take a man for everything he has. The only difference is in method.
I've studied their sites, and it seems to them like this: while feminists are all about trying to force men to check their privilege and whatnot, "traditional" women still feel some pride of place as a wife and might find more subtle ways to praise feminine power and have council with other women to ensure that they have the upper hand in the end.

Like almost any other fundie, MRAs communicate using words that sound innocuous or unintelligible to others but get the point across to the intended recipient. It's the best guess I can come up with.
I don't know...even if there's some truth to it, whining about "dog whistles" seems like a way of demonizing others who disagree, by saying that what they supposedly 'actually' mean is far worse than their face value wording.
Guys, guys, guys. This is not Pharyngula. If this stupid schism in the atheist community around female and male privileges leaks into FSTDT, I am going to scream.
QUIT IT AND BE RATIONAL. ALL OF YOU. GOD DAMMIT.
It's always good to bring the misogynists out of the closet.
The gold thing is amusing because it's the talking heads on Cluster Fox who are always hawking gold. It's a guy thing.
Do you have "mommy" issues?
Hm. Well, the gold coins I bought in 2009 have increased in value by more than 50% since then (measured against pounds sterling). Wish I had bought more.
Mortgaged houses can be a good investment, if bought at the right time.
Facebook shares, maybe not.
@1497235
Don't worry, we won't turn into Femtheist. And if we do, you can submit those posts to the site! (It's happened before for FSTDT itself.)
I do wish people would knock off about it, though. I'm sure the powers that be know what you want, and there's no need to bring it up in every new thread.
Obviously, TFH is a pratt, but I've been wondering about the clamouring for a Sexists Say The Darndest Things section, eg. aebars #1497220, are they having some sort of difficulty? There's already three sections, ain't that enough?
I'll agree with Facebook as an investment, but I seriously doubt the major investors were all advised by women. As for mortgages ( I'm not talking about no-money down interest only mortgages here) and gold, both have proven to be solid long-term investments (those words are important - long-term).
You're talking through your ass.
I disagree with having a SSTDT.
Rather, I think we should rename RSTDT "Bigots Say the Darndest Things" and throw the whole lot in there.
I am pretty sure there's CEO's of massive company's and leaders of country's that don't rely on group think. in my personal experience, i have known girls and women who are easily smarter most people, and especially this pile of shit. my economics teacher grew extremely wealthy through investments and businesses. guess what? she was female.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
