Quote# 92156

Why is Christianity important? Simple. Ceremonial magic won't work without it. If you want to get real results in your magical work and, in particular keep your sanity, you need to reconnect with the Christianity of your youth. Prayer is absolutely essential - as is attendance at mass. Anyone who doesn't wish to believe this or, worse, is fool enough to believe that the 'black arts' don't directly influence both the material world as well as one's soul, or that demons don't exist, would be well advised to watch the film Angel Heart. The Medieval Grimoires are very interesting in that they suggest that there is a precise cosmic ground-plan, since the instructions must be followed to the letter...

Why is christianity important?

Simple. It isn't. Pagan religions predate christianity by thousands of years. It wasn't necessary for ritual then and we don't use it now.

Isn't doing ceremonial magic heretical in the Christian faith?

1/18/2013 4:35:29 AM

Depends. After all, by some reasonable definitions of the term "ceremonial magic", the Eucharist is ceremonial magic.

Ceremonial magic doesnt work WITH it (christianity) either.

Movies are FANTASY.

I think mr. klitschko has gotten a few to many blows to his head.

"would be well advised to watch the film Angel Heart."

You would be well advised to watch the film Idiocracy and realize that you would fit in well with the population of the future described in the film.

Um ... Vitaly Klitschko the boxer? Well, whatever you say, dude ... * backs away slowly *

I quite agree. And anyone who is fool enough to believe that buses are not actually giant cats, would be well advised to watch the film My Neighbour Totoro.

That sounds rather anti-Christian, actually. Last I checked, magic is a big no-no; especially 'black arts'.

What if I don't want to do magic? Does that mean I don't have to go to church?

Harry Potter films work better.

Being of the witchy persuasion, myself, I think this guy's full of dragon-dung.

And a Lisa Bonet movie is NOT A DOCUMENTARY!

I'm getting a big "Poe" vibe, too. Y'think?

Not fundy. Batshit crazy, but not fundy.

And if you have no protective charm or amulet to ward off magic, specially biblical magic, you end up mindless and spellbound, so it seems.

"Why is Christianity important? Simple. Ceremonial magic won't work without it."

Huh?

"If you want to get real results in your magical work and, in particular keep your sanity, you need to reconnect with the Christianity of your youth. Prayer is absolutely essential - as is attendance at mass."

Ah, I see.

You can't force pagans to convert at the point of a sword anymore, so you're just trying to convince them that what they're doing would work even better with a little Jesus power added to it.

Basically it's the same thing you guys have already done once when you stole the pagan rituals, holy days, religious figures, and so on and made them into Church rituals, holy days, and Saints.

"Anyone who doesn't wish to believe this or, worse, is fool enough to believe that the 'black arts' don't directly influence both the material world as well as one's soul, or that demons don't exist, would be well advised to watch the film Angel Heart."

Angel Heart, while a cool movie and criminally obscure for most people, was not a documentary.

"The Medieval Grimoires are very interesting in that they suggest that there is a precise cosmic ground-plan, since the instructions must be followed to the letter..."

You seem--what's the word?--oh, yes, insane.

So, you claim that I need Christianity to be a sane person?

Prayer is essential because the omnipotent, omniscient God needs to hears from me?

Though God is everywhere, I need to attend mass?

So, if one has to follow God's ground-plan to the letter, which one Christian sect is the right one, that is, the only sect not bound for hell?

AbsurdONE

You know, I would've just said this is just a Poe, but I have heard alleged Gnostics (I can't comment on whether they really were Gnostics in the traditional sense and not just some angsty teenagers making shit up) voice similar views, and I've come across a disheartening number of people that view fictional movies and docudramas as cold hard fact. It's not a stretch to imagine there'd be someone who thinks as this Klitschko guy does.

Christianity allows you to cast dark magic ?

Well that's a new one

Clarification (if not already posted):
This was in the comment section of the article, by someone who gave Vitaly Klitschko as their username.
Could the name somehow be changed in (someone calling themselves) Vitaly Klitschko?
Because in this case it looks like him saying this to the Independent, not someone using his name

I believe Mr. Klitschko is actually referring to a style of magic known as "Enochian." It is full of angels, demons, sigils, and very hierarchial in nature. ALL the spells are worked using Christian terminology.

It is really, really complicated, and an unbelievable amount of work just to get set up to perform a ritual. You'd better off just going to church and saying a prayer - it's easier and done sooner.

Yeah, I'm a total geek willing to read just about anything. :)

You don't mix ammonia and Clorox, and you don't mix the practice of Christianity with this stuff.
