I'm all for reparations- Americans of African descent owe us Millions of Dollars. They're the only immigrant group to have free passage over by ship, and for the first 250 years of North American settlement, had free room and board (there WAS that grinding dehumanizing slavery thingy, but hey we're talking about financial compensation).
Also, since my ancestors were in the Union Army, who LIBERATED the slaves, I demand compensation from their descendants for all the hardships and suffering they went through.

that's head-tiltingly selfish. not surprising from a freeper, but still. wow.

das interwebz: money, dear boy. money makes the world go 'round
i can haz epic facepalm plz?
What about the utter inhumanity inflicted by us, white people, onto them? Looking through history, white people have committed more crimes against humanity than all other races combined. Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, imperial Spain, and southern Americans were all of European descent. The only reason we are prosperous is because of our ill-gotten gains that were literally stolen from the rest of the world.
It breaks my heart to see a Northern racist. If he had been alive during the Civil War, he would've fought for the South. He's no more Northern than Woodrow Wilson.
I was going to say the Moonfront Republicans had thought of something original at last, but they didn't. Goering did that first, when he confiscated the remaining property of the victims of Crystal Night to pay for all the damage they had caused by existing while being Jewish.
The level of fail in this entry would be beyond belief if it weren't from Free Republic. I can completely believe someone from there would be this stupid.
@Brendan Rizzo
European civilisations and their descendants are hardly alone in the atrocity department. The Mongols ravaged enormous swathes of Eurasia, brutalising anyone who resisted. Communist China managed to kill tens of millions of people essentially by accident thanks to epic levels of mismanagement. During the Cold War ruthless, bloody dictators were the norm in South and Central America, and they're the norm now in Africa. The Khmer Rouge in Cambodia performed one of the most efficient extermination campaigns in history (approximately 2 million dead in less than a decade, in a nation with little industry and less than 10 million people). And literally at this very moment the Syrian government is performing mass slaughter.
Ignoring the atrocities performed by other civilisations is just as harmful, albeit in a different way, as ignoring all of their accomplishments.
@ Extraintrovert:
True, but of the three you listed, only the Mongols acted completely on their own and deliberately. The China situation seems to have been an example of Hanlon's razor, and the Cold War-era and modern dictatorships only exist because of the actions of Europe and America, so I think we ought to take the blame for that, too. If you wanted a non-European country that was truly evil, you should've mentioned World War II-era Japan. (Though even then, one reason they became so horribly racist was as a response to European racism.) When you consider that there probably would not be any underdeveloped nations if it hadn't been for the Cold War and imperialism, the OP is an even bigger asshole.
To even make distinctions on who is the most evil and killed the most people is a subtle form of racism in itself.
People have slaughtered, enslaved and dehumanized other people ever since we became people. It seems to be part of our mindset whenever we become threatened. To assign it to one "race" or nation is ridiculous.
It's a human trait.
"To even make distinctions on who is the most evil and killed the most people is a subtle form of racism in itself."
No, it is not.
Does anybody have even the slightest idea of what the term "racist" means anymore?
To clear it up, "racism" is the irrational belief that your particular branch of humanity is inherently genetically superior to all others.
That's all.
Hating other cultural groups is not racism, it's Xenophobia, this covers hating the French, or Mexicans, or whoever.
Hating other religions is not racism, it's bigotry, so Islam-haters are bigots, not racists, Jew-haters have their own word, but they still fall under the category of bigots.
Can we please use the word racist where it is actually justified? At this stage it's becoming a reflexive epithet used on anyone who has views less tolerant than one's own, which means it's impact becomes less and less, because it has no more punch than "dickhead".
I had an ancestor who came from Ireland specifically to sign up for that Union Army pay, which seemed like a good deal to him.
I'll offer to send you overseas to the country of your choice, if you'll travel the same way the slaves did.
Yeah, I'm sure being captured, taken from your homeland, transported thousands of miles across the sea and being sold forced to work, and essentially kept prisoner is nothing compared to the cost of the plantation owners who had to shell out a lot of money to house and feed all those slaves.
Stick to demagogy. Every time you fundies attempt comedy, you mishandle it atrociously, and it ends up laying pathetically on the ground, flopping and sputtering like a goldfish out of water.
Because, obviously, the luxyrious one square foot per person accommodations and meals whenever the crew remembered aboard those ships were so damn expensive that it took several generations of hard work to pay it off.
@Extraintrovert - I'm black and I agree (except bloody dictators in Africa were more the norm in the 80s and 90s, by 2007 the majority of African dictators were ousted or dead, but most still have pretty corrupt governments). The nature of humans doesn't change by skin color. That's a concept that forms the main basis of racism and why racists seem to think people with a different skin color are some kind of boogeymen.
*Not saying that Brendan Rizzo is a racist, just that that line of thought is dangerous because it can be what leads people to become racist.
Um. Wat.
Please be a troll.
