honestly, obama brought this kind of shitstorm upon himself; there's no good reason on earth for a president to withhold his proof of birth such a huge amount of time. there's just no way it would be lost or anything. There is something suspicious about it. With the power of the us gov't, they could have just forged one; but the question is, why would they wait so long to release a forgery? Why wouldn't they just release a forged document from the get-go?
This logic should be in the minds of everyone, regardless of political side. There is something flat out suspicious about the president refusing to surface his requirement of office. End of story.

Later he released an image of said birth certificate. Newspapers of the period announced his birth.
THAT wasn't enough.
He made special arrangements with the state of Hawaii to release the so-called "long form". From what I understand it consists of completely confidential and private information from Hawaiian databases, since they switched from paper to computer records decades ago.
Now THAT document is a forgery.

Is there any conspiracy similar to birtherism outside the United States? By which I mean, a large portion of society steadfastly refuses to believe that a politician is eligible for his office despite the mountains of evidence that he is? Because if there is no such thing outside the US, that's just one more piece of evidence that Americans are irrevocably stupid.
Probably because he really didn't expect his place of birth to be an issue, and as far as the federal government was concerned he is a natural-born citizen. I'd probably have told all the birthers to just fuck off if I'd been in his place.

Obviously if all Americans thought the same way we wouldn't have this quote up here to ridicule. While the people who believe that Obama's birth certificate is forged are stupid, they are at least in the minority.
When Obama was elected Senator, he had to get a security clearance before he could get access to classified information he might need to do things like attend closed session on foreign policy, etc. There is a whole network of civilian and military agents around the world who do the research for background checks. Yes, there is. If he hadn't really been born in America, not only would the Republicans have brought it up in 2008, but also his fellow Democrat political rivals also running for president back then.
The whole birth certificate thing doesn't matter anyway, since his mother was American. Any child of an American is considered an American, even if born overseas. Like John McCain, for instance, who was born in Panama.

I don't say the US is perfect, nor do I say the government isn't in need of overhaul. Nor do I deny that the general public is made up of a lot of stupid people. But when we post a stupid comment from one stupid person and then someone paints EVERYONE in the country with the stupid brush, it's really annoying & offensive. If we didn't have fstdt.com to make fun of idiotic statements from idiots around the country and instead everyone accepted these views as rational, logical, and intelligent, then I'd probably jump on the "Americans are stupid" bandwagon. But seeing as how the comments offered on fstdt.com for ridicule are definitely minority opinions, I am glad to know that most people here don't share those views. Yes, I'm still amazed that Santorum has any support at all, but at least it's comforting to know that he has little if any chance to win the presidency.

I actually love this presidency. It's flushing all the crazies out into the light from the dark holes where they normally hide so we can all gawk.
He posted his birth certificate online long before he became president because this nonsense was started by Hillary Clinton when they were competing for the nomination. It was also thoroughly debunked a long time before he released it yet again. It is absurd to think that the president was paying any attention to the fringe lunatics and with everything he has to deal with would present his B.C. I don't think he should have presented the long form because it just added more layers to the conspiracy for the idiots. These idiots will never accept that a black man is in office and he was actually born in our country, get over it!
