MEDIA, Pennsylvania – A 70-year-old man was stoned to death with a rock stuffed in a sock by a younger friend who alleged the victim made unwanted sexual advances, authorities said.

According to the criminal complaint, John Thomas, 28, of a Philadelphia suburb, told police he killed Murray Seidman of nearby Lansdowne because the Bible refers to stoning homosexuals.

"I stoned Murray with a rock in a sock," Thomas told police, according to the criminal complaint.

Thomas was arrested and charged with murder Friday.

According to the complaint, "John Thomas stated that he read in the Old Testament that homosexuals should be stoned in certain situations. The answer John Thomas received from his prayers was to put an end to the victim's life. John Thomas stated that he struck the victim approximately 10 times in the head. After the final blow, John Thomas made sure the victim was dead."

"He is a deeply religious man. Or so he says," said Lansdowne Police Chief Dan Kortan.
Delaware County Medical Examiner Fredric Hellman ruled that Seidman had been dead for five to 10 days before Thomas started banging on doors in the hallway of Seidman's apartment building on Jan. 12.

Police said Thomas, who is the executor and sole beneficiary of Seidman's will, returned to the apartment and pretended that he had just discovered Seidman's body.

And don't even get me started on Leviticus. Eaten any shellfish lately, have you?

But, of course, religion isn't dangerous at all. Or so I'm told constantly.

I'm guessing by the "... or so he says" line that the good Chief here is skeptical that there are people out there who would actually stone someone to death for religious reasons.

I suggest the Chief peruse our site and see if that changes his mind.

Like I said, "Thou Shalt Not Murder" is in your Wholly Babble, too. Killing someone either because they're homosexual or because you happen to be in need of a quick inheritance is equally unjust and, therefor, murder.

If he really is deeply religious, I think he has a good chance of using the insanity defense.

After all, he believes that an all-powerful being created the entire universe just for him & sent his only son with magic powers to die and come back to life so that he can have eternal life by communicating telepathically with this being and his zombie son, and by symbolically eating the flesh of this zombie to remove a curse put on all mankind because a talking snake told a woman made from the rib of a man made from dirt to eat fruit from a magic tree. This magical, all-powerful being created the entire, vast, complicated universe but is overly concerned with where people on this tiny speck of the universe stick their penises. And he knows all this is true because it was written down in a book thousands of years ago by superstitious goat herders.

If that's not crazy, I don't know what is!

@SleepNeed - I didn't even mean just the majority of Christians, I think even the vast majority of extremely right-wing, fundamentalist, "Hurr hurr, let's kill all the Arabs" and "Gays should die" types, will still turn around and hypocritically "condemn" the kind of thing they've been rooting for all along when it happens in real life. They say gays should be stoned according to God, someone stones a gay person and says God told him to, when called on it, they shrug and say "Oh, he wasn't a real Christian. One of those violent atheists."

You're probably right though, there will always be a few who are actually proud to show their ignorance in public rather than just keeping it to snickering amongst themselves and creating the culture.

Dumb murderer, you pretty much admitted premeditation with the bit about prayers... No gay panic defense for you. You also fail utterly at disguising your greedy attempts at manipulating an elderly, mentally-challenged man. Enjoy your daily prison rapes, you sick fuck!

On a side note, that's not how stoning is done.
