First, it's untrue that the god of Islam is personal. He is not. He is vengeful and angry, which you can see through the Muslim culture.

By the way, tofu, in case you missed the memo about this, the god that Muslims worship and the god that Christians worship is the same god -- and he's the god that the Jews worship as well. Your problem is that the Muslims are too much like YOU.

the Muslim culture
Somebody better tell Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Indonesia (the country with the largest Muslim population) that they all have the same culture...
Hmmm, perhaps he missed in the Bible where God himself says "I am a jealous and angry God."
Dude, your God is a an angry God. I know because the Bible tells me so. Take some time and read the old testament if you want to see some angry God action.
And anybody who thinks that only the old testament is depicting a vengeful and angry god: Please revise your opinion immediately.
There are enough bible verses from the alleged "meek and mild" Jesus which are filled with violence and anger, threatening all people who do not believe in him.
But on top of it all stands the Book of Revelation. Perhaps the bloodiest book in the whole bible. Read what is promised there to the absolute majority of the world population, and nobody please claim ever again that the New Testament is peaceful.

Wow this works on so many levels!
The only way God can be personal is, if every person got to have his own God. One God, by definition, cannot be personal.
