Aaaargh!
I have to be honest, as a Canadian this kinda makes me want to invade and impose our polite, tolerant, semi-kinda-socialist, rep-by-pop sort of democracy on you all.
If that's okay .... (heh)
their =/= there.
75% against homosexuality? I don't think the numbers are that high, plus I think that the only thing most Americans really take issue with is the marriage thing, and I think that has more to do with the tax breaks you get as a married couple - if marriage to someone of the same sex is as legal as marriage to someone of the opposite sex, then you could theoretically just marry any person at any time for any reason and bingo, get a tax break (for example, I could "marry" my current roommate and then pay less in taxes). Never mind, though, that most people aren't going to be doing that because they have standards when it comes to picking a mate. >_>
That said, "Christian Otaku"? How the hell can a fundie Christian be into Japanese anime?? Although, I bet you consider yourself an "otaku" just based on all those dubbed and sanitized episodes of DBZ and Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh that you've watched on TV, huh.
I had to read this like 6 times to figure out what it meant. Translation: "Why should America, which is 75% against homosexuality, give homosexuals more liberties than their basic, modern rights give them?" Just like Jim Crow laws shouldn't have been repealed if the majority or people still supported them?
First of all, even in the far-off year of 2004, 75% of Americans were not against homosexual marriage. It was 55%. Still, a majority, though.
But what's this? Today - the far more tolerant year of 2011 (apparently) 53% support gay marriage vs. 45% oppose. I guess Christianotaku is fighting for gay marriage rights since the majority of people now support them.
What's what? Christianotaku would be against gay rights even if 99% of the people were in favor of them and his quoting of stats is just rationalization of an underlying bigotry? Oh. Ok.

Well, whether it's a majority or not depends on the poll. It's rather more clear when you divide it three ways: marriage equality vs. "civil unions" (a.k.a. the "Plessy v. Ferguson approach") vs. no legal recognition. Marriage equality is the most popular of the three, with the "separate but equal" option coming in second; pure heterosexual-supremacy is still the least popular opinion, even if it's the stated position of both dominant political parties.
I'm pretty sure some states came in at 75%, those states still favor slavery too. Also, Pew Polls would come in even higher than this.
Point here is those are always poll questions that suggest gays would get MORE RIGHTS as this asshole is suggesting
Wow. Your lack of basic grammar and good spelling suggests an uneducated background, and the subject matter just confirms it.
@Crimson Lizard
It's a bit ironic to use the term 'butthurt' when referring to a homophobe, no?
So by that standard they have the right to believe what they wish, as long as consenting adults, marry, etc?
I think you'll find that America is closer to 75 percent FOR human rights. So yes, they should have as much liberty and rights as everyone else has.
English isn't your first language, is it, honey?
Confused?
