Quote# 65779

Obama needs to listen to WE, THE PEOPLE!!! If he doesn't, which is likely, then Texas will have a vote on secession.
I would support a Free Republic of Texas and I would move there, too. If Obama is going to rule us with a fascist hand, then we don't have to live under him!

I'm Moving to Texas If The State Secedes (Unless Alaska Does It First)

Goodbye, and good riddance. Don't come crawling back here when Texas (or Alaska) turns into a third-world country.

Please, feel free to secede. Take the rest of the fundies, Oreilly and Beck with you when you go.

Rule with a fascist hand? I thought the trendy playground insult of the moment was socialist. Socialism and fascism occupy polar opposite ends of the ideological spectrum.

Distilled definition for brain-dead fundie: Your statement doesn't make any fucking sense any way.

yet another shining example of why, even though I love my state, I absolutely cannot stand its people. if they read the current state constitution they would realize we actually have no such right to secession, but I guess if Goodhair says so, it is so.

I whole-heartily support any and all Southern states, or Alaska, in succeeding from the Union (please, Bob).

Let's get this straight... I live in TX and am embarrassed when fools like this speak. Secession = Traitor. PERIOD.

Where to start with the fail?
1. He thinks secession has any chance of working in today's world when it didn't last time in a much less centralised America.
1a. Texas I'll grant, but Alaska has *any chance whatsoever* of being self-sufficient? You fail development geography forever.
2. He doesn't know that elections do indeed represent the will of the people.
3. He uses the nominative as the object of a sentence.

Oh, I fully agree that Obama needs to listen to WE, THE PEOPLE!!! He needs to grow a pair and stop pandering to the nutter right wingers. I don't know what it is, no matter what he does, they're going to hate him, so why bother even trying. Once people have free healthcare, is any rational person going to vote for a party that wants to take it away?

Oh, that's not what your saying? Well this is awkward...

The issue with this (well, besides the stupidity of secession in the 21st century, which is another issue) is that a lot of people in Texas voted for Obama. Texas isn't universally Republican, just majority, and in US politics "majority" often means "barely more than 50 percent".

If Texas were *universally* pro-secession, they could make it as a country (if the US would let them go - which it never would; Texas is a net moneymaker for the Federal government); Texas is larger & richer than most nations on Earth. (I think it would be in the top 10, like 8th or 9th, largest GDPs if it wasn't figured as part of the US.) The problems wouldn't be economic - they'd be political (that is, the Texan people would never vote for it and the US would never allow it even if they did.)

But Texas will never secede. Deal with it.

Isn't Obama where he is just because of "WE, THE PEOPLE"? Y'all took a vote, he turned out to be the more popular choice.
That's democracy, not fascism.
