Quote# 65741

[In a topic about whether or not it is right to teach children religion.]

My boys are 6 and 8
they learn about Jesus, they know about Noah and the flood, they understand sin, they know the bad guys don't like Jesus, they understand that jesus was pinished on the cross for the things they have done wrong, they have told Jesus they are sorry for doing wrong and ask Jesus if they can be in His family, they are not sure about water baptism, they are ready for the rapture, they know Jesus has a mansion prepared for them, they understand they return with Jesus at the second coming on white horses, they hope their 2 dogs will be with them in the millennium, they understand socialism is wrong, they don't want anyone voting for Obama in 2012

we haven't discussed religion yet

It's none of yours or your kid's business who votes for who. It's my right to choose who I think will do the most good regardless of what party the candidate belongs to.A bit of advice, look up socialist countries and show me where America is on the list.Making them feel guilty over some ficticious characters death and asking for forgivness even though they've done no wrong?Great work on the brainwashing asshole. You should be ashamed of yourself.Your just teaching your kids to parrot your bullshit lies instead of doing kid stuff.

So you haven't decided yet about water baptism. It shows that your family always leaves a little room for other opinions.

What do the two heaven-bound dogs think of water baptism?

No, I'm pretty sure you haven't "discussed" anything, you just told them what to believe, and they believe it because they trust their father - like most children that age would.

What on earth could a 6 and 8 year old have done that they need to apologize for being the reason some guy was tortured to death 2000 years ago? I remember crying as a kid because I felt so bad for making Jesus go through all that crap, like it was my fault for being so bad at an age where the worse thing I had ever done was steal some buttons from the fabric store. That is not healthy!

Um....that sounds like me at 8. Exactly like me, except we weren't allowed to have any pets.

Guess who's no longer rapture ready? :)

Oh, and by the way Buzzard Nut, Christianity is a religion. You illiterate fool.

the FBI is controlling your thoughts via your toaster

they learn about Jesus, they know about Noah and the flood,

I learned about Thor, an infinitly cooler god with much better stories.

they understand sin, they know the bad guys don't like Jesus, they understand that jesus was pinished on the cross for the things they have done wrong, they have told Jesus they are sorry for doing wrong and ask Jesus if they can be in His family

You got them working on their feelings false guilt early I see.

they are not sure about water baptism

Why, will they melt?

they are ready for the rapture, they know Jesus has a mansion prepared for them, they understand they return with Jesus at the second coming on white horses, they hope their 2 dogs will be with them in the millennium,

Making sure they are ready for the whooshfest that will never happen? Sure fire way to get your kids to think you're a loony when they get older.

they understand socialism is wrong, they don't want anyone voting for Obama in 2012

Why is socialism wrong? Oh riiiiight, only evil atheistic commies are socialists. Atheistic commies like Obama! <rolls eyes>

Sure, because what you believe isn´t a religion, but a personal relationship with Jesus... ;)

Nevertheless your churches receive tax exemption just like other religions... definitely time to stop this

know the bad guys don't like Jesus

The rest of what you wrote, while stupid, is still within your purview to teach as your beliefs. But this, right here, is despicable. You are literally raising your kids to view all non-Christians as "bad." How far a step is it to teach them to kill bad people?

Child abuse for Jesus. Ugh.

6 and 8 year olds DON'T understand politics, and indoctrinating them like this is certainly abuse.

One more thing -- Jesus WAS a long-haired socialist hippie.

Ugh. I hate it when they forget to use periods. Then the claim that just because Obama is a Democrat, he wants to bring Socialism into America. These fundies would have a heart attack if they ever read up on European politics (our Democrats would be closer to the right side of the aisle there.)

Wow, don't get me wrong, BH is a nutter for sure, but the comments on the first page of THIS thread could go straight into the submission form for the anti-anything-remotely-religious-fundy crowd. Shiny mirrors run both ways and radical anything scares the shit out of me.

"We haven't discussed religion yet."

Hmmm, let's see. They know quite a few biblical stories. They think the rapture is going to happen. And they think Jesus has a mansion for them in heaven? Either you're really stupid or you honestly think that you haven't discussed religion with them. Either possibility is sad.

I was 8 years old in 1973.

I hated Nixon because all the cool kids hated Nixon, not because I had the vaguest idea why he was dislikeable.

I'm sure your kids' motivation for disliking Obama is in the same vein.

..."they understand they return with Jesus at the second coming on white horses..Any day now...any day."

That is SO Hindu..riding on white horses, elephants, whatever. Buzzie's confused. If Jesus hated the rich, the money lenders, why is he giving his flock mansions, white horses and streets of gold? I am so Confusioused.

Is Buzzardhut in Dickipedia? Someone wittier than me needs to nominate him

Nothing like indoctrinating and scaring the hell out of them while they are young.

You do realise that Jesus was a socialist, don't you? And a liberal?

I hope they grow up and realise what a narrow minded, small hearted person you really are.

"we haven't discussed religion yet"

I'll admit that is true. With two kids of 6 and 8 they would do nothing more than listen and follow, not analyse and reply (which is required in and actual discussion). So you are not really lying...

I still find what you are saying to be rather distasteful, but you aren't lying.

Heck, I may not be in favour of socialism, but I certainly disapprove of you informing your kids of how bad it is. You can't call socialism WRONG. You could say that you don't want to live in a socialist country (which is fine, you are allowed to have your own opinion) but just blatantly calling it wrong does little to help. I personally don't like socialism because it seems to have some rather severe social economic effects that seems to affect the sustainability of the idea, but I don't call it wrong. maybe one day the kinks will be worked out and it will be a better system than capitalism (maybe it already is). the point is that you simply don't know.

(and your kids shouldn't have to give a crap about it)

Note: To anyone else reading this, please don't tell me what I got wrong about socialism. I know I probably screwed up a bit there and I probably need to investigate the system further.

Pretty dull quote for most of the way... which only makes that zinger of a last line more hilarious when it comes. Awesome.
