Quote# 60819

["I'm doing a research project on misogyny in religion, and while I've found plenty of misogynist passages in the Bible, Qur'an, and Torah, I'm also looking for examples of women's rights in these texts. I've found what might be considered respect for women in the Qur'an, but I would really love to find some examples of women's rights in the Bible, too, so that my argument won't be one-sided. I'm writing a fairly subjective paper that won't end up "siding" with any one religion.

So if anybody could direct me to some passages in the Bible that refer to women's rights (in a positive light) that would be wonderful.

Hi Meg

The truth is that if you're a woman who does not care about salvation there are no rules in the Bible that concern you. If you want to have an abortion go ahead but we are bound to speak up for the innocent child you kill. And this is especially true since plan parenthood feeds and the public trough using our money to do your killing. I'm sorry but I go off on tangents when I think of the 50,000,000 children put to death in America for the convenience of the mothers. Makes the holocaust look like a drive by shooting.

Nope Meg God has no rules for you if you're not interested in salvation, you go girl. You show the world who's boss.

And then when she adds this to the paper and reads it in class there will be a hue and cry about persecution of christians in the classroom.

Did you even read the question?

3/23/2009 4:58:24 PM

It doesn't matter what the question is.

3/23/2009 5:02:10 PM

"I'm sorry but I go off on tangents"

The understatement of the year.

3/23/2009 5:06:15 PM

I've seen some impressive avoiding of the question, but this has to take the cake. He/she doesn't even pretend to be answering the question asked. There's gotta be an award for this one.

3/23/2009 5:07:06 PM

She wasn't asking for rules, she was asking about rights for women in a postive light.

Since there aren't any, I guess your only reply was to go on a wild tangent.

3/23/2009 5:09:06 PM

Just... wow.

3/23/2009 5:11:29 PM

Just a mindless drone spewing the same dramatic nonsense over and over, no matter what the question. The fact that such an impertinent question came from a woman is what set him off.

3/23/2009 5:14:20 PM

3/23/2009 5:17:45 PM

Exactly where did she ask about abortion?

3/23/2009 5:21:42 PM

LOL, I love this entry. Talk about off-topic ranting!

3/23/2009 5:41:00 PM

Dio Fa

Meg: "Please, please tell me that I don't belong to a woman-hating religion!!"

Jeezo grovelling drone: "blah, blah, blah (NO!) blah blah blah"

Well Meg, You have two options:

1. Lie for Jesus, risk failing your assignment.
2. Admit that your religion hates you.

3/23/2009 6:00:08 PM

a mind far far away

So, by all that bullshit and nonsense, I take it your answer is no, there's not any references in the bible to women's rights. And you'd be right.

3/23/2009 6:00:27 PM

50 million children are not put to death for the convnience of the mother. There might be 50 million aborted fetuses not always aborted for the mother's convenience.

3/23/2009 6:15:52 PM

Meg: Hi do you have any apples?
JB Horn:NO, I insist, this oranges are not good, they are pure evil!!
Meg:.... What?

3/23/2009 6:23:48 PM

Apparently, "women's rights" in JB Horn's mind only means "abortion rights."

Things like suffrage, equal opportunity employment, getting flogged for talking to a male in Saudi Arabia, etc., apparently don't exist as issues.

3/23/2009 6:29:08 PM

I guess some fundie retards will always associate equal rights for women with abortion.
As to the 50 million aborted fetuses, I suspect the number is ridiculously inflated and based on bogus data, but since you brought it up, I wonder how many fetuses your God is responsible for killing with miscarriages? Based on what we know, it a lot more than 50 million.

3/23/2009 6:31:21 PM

So she's basically asking people whose religions have been used to justify misogyny to please tell her there are parts which are not misogynist so she can be fair...and Horn, instead of trying to convince her that Christianity is worthwhile for a woman who doesn't hate herself, shows her misogyny with generous sides of stupidity and cluelessness.

I bet Horn's far too stupid to feel stupid over that.

Yay, misunderstanding fundie, HO!He had a follow-up reply from a reply to this quote in that forum:

It's nice how you presume all feminists support abortion.

That said, I have heard stories of women coming in, saying reasonably and calmly why they want an abortion, before going back out to join the protestors outside the clinic. You wonder sometimes whether these so-called pro-"lifers" have an alterior motive, especially the ones who want to execute people. Undecided The hypocrisy is staggering.

Do you think Meg is asking about piercing her ears?

Never heard anyone doing anything like that and unless I saw it or talked with a person who did that I would greatly question it's accuracy.

Strange that you see no deference in killing an innocent child and a the biblical execution of a condemned murder. Well may be not so strange because both times you are on the side of the murder aren't you?

This guy is such a card! And by card, I mean total fool.

3/23/2009 6:38:15 PM

Oops, the quote by Medbh4805 ends at "Undecided The hypocrisy is staggering."

3/23/2009 6:39:30 PM

I'm not Meg, but I'll definitely do my part to show you and your petty little god who's actually in charge. Yup, in fact, here's my ass, give it a big fat smooch, JB baby!!!

3/23/2009 6:49:19 PM

Can't say I don't understand why JB feels the need to completely ignore the question, if s/he even finished reading it and s/he comprehended it.

And how the hell are 50 million fetuses going to be aborted (never mind that convenience is not the only reason, probably a relatively minor reason at that, for abortion)? That would require. . . what, half of all American women having an abortion?

3/23/2009 6:52:58 PM

Can't say I understand. . .*

3/23/2009 6:53:43 PM

Looks like someone didn't read the OP. Oh, and "50,000,000 children put to death"? I'm going to need a citation for that figure.
