Homeschooling is dangerous to the powers behind the politicians because the home schooled youthful minds are not available to be brainwashed. My kids go to public school but I've also done a lot of teaching at home with them. They are prepared at home not to accept everything they're taught in school as truth. From my girl's reactions to the "health" class curriculum in jr high and high school, that is one place where the powers do significant brainwashing.

"Stop giving homeschooling a bad name. "
The homeschoolers who wont shut up about how much better then they are then us public school neanderthals, with are gang violence and social skills, gave it a bad name. The fundies just polished that turd to a sparkling brilliance.

False. They are available to be brainwashed, just not by the same people as the other kids. Quite frankly, I prefer public-school teachers to Baptist/Mormon preachers.

An admirable endeavour - a parent should spend as much time as they reasonably can with their children.

Also admirable. The ability to not sheepishly belive what they are told is good and should be more common.

This is where I have a real problem. Given that this is RR, I can logically presume that they taught her about *gasp* the mechanics of sexual intercourse, *shock* the existence of anything other than the missionary position, and *horrors* methods of contraception other than chastity.

And they're only failing all of their classes because of that evil liberal conspiracy against Rapture Ready and their offspring. Or some bullshit. Am I right?

I can see the conversation now. "Now Jimmy, you just pick and choose what to learn and accept as true. Just like we do with the Bible."

Let me guess, she found out where babies come from and the answer wasn't "a blessing from Gawd."

Tall Timbers, "
Another is in a church. Or a mosque. Or synagogue. Or coven. However I see it far less in the latter 2. And homeschooling is yet another place of significant brainwashing
No, it's dangerous because you have proceeded to cripple your children for the sole purpose of fitting your world view.
It's like a blind parent putting their child's eyes out...
Yeah, brainwashing should be done in the home!
I'd imagine fundie kids would freak out in health class. I doubt their parents did much of a job explaining reproductive health or puberty.

How naive. The Patriots have LOTS of ways to brainwash you. Everything you see on the Internet is controlled by them, for one thing. Best to avoid all forms of communication.

Those pictures of bodyparts and their correct names can be pretty freaky.

Interesting, then, that the people who are the most in favor of homeschooling also tend to me the most in favor of teacher-led prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools.
I submit that you are just as much in favor of brainwashing as those you demonize. You simply disagree on what should be washed onto said brains.

Why send them to school in the first place.

From Point A to...?
Hmm, yeah, it's really horrible to teach kids about safe s... oh wait, abstinence only education, I forgot.

Let me guess, they used the word "penis" and now your poor little girl will never be pure again! Horrors!
For some reason, I'm reminded of the exchange in Addams Family Values:
Little Girl: ...and then Mommy kissed Daddy, and the angel told the stork, and the stork flew down from heaven, and put the diamond in the cabbage patch, and the diamond turned into a baby!
Pugsley: Our parents are having a baby, too.
Wednesday: They had sex.
And the question is, why do you send them in the first place?, and why do you complain afterwards, if they're not accepted in a normal mainstream secular institution?
You should have stopped typing after the third word.
So, you send your kids to school and then try and "unteach" everything they've learned if it doesn't fit into your narrow fundie view of things? Fantastic. Not only are you ill-preparing them for life, you are (depending on their ages) confusing the daylights out of them.
Leave teaching to the teachers. That should be one of the first rules of fundiedom.
The things you think of Muslim schools churning out little talibans are what i think of your homeschooling.
Oh, wait. You probably think "if only us Christians could do it"!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
