I hope he was a Christian.

I don't see this as especially fundie in and of itself, as it's a response many religious folks might have. It is, at least for some, a way of saying, "I hope this person is at peace now in the pleasant afterlife I, too, hope to someday inhabit."
Not fundie, it's a sincere hope for someone's happiness from their view.
People need to stop assuming malevolence when hearing this, at least without proper context.
Sorry, Holy_Loved, but he's clearly burning in Hell.
His Jurassic Park novels presuppose both the validity of evolution, and the blasphemous notion that dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago (thereby implying that the Earth is more than 6012 years old). And I hear that he never once advocated the lynching of a homosexual!
Well, he did tell people that dinosaurs and people lived together, so....
But then he had that one with the talking monkey, so I guess not.
"This is actually kind of sweet, with the whole connotations of "I hope he goes to heaven"."
Along with the assumption that if he isn't a Christian, he's going to hell no matter what. Did everyone commenting on this quote take stupid pills or something?
Confused?
