Quote# 51223

You label it Pentecostal Theology. I call it New Testament theology and doctrine. This is why I hate denominationalism. It shouldn't matter your denomination. "What does the bible say" should be where we form our beliefs.

The New Testament clearly reveals the New Birth and the infilling of the Holy Spirit as two separate experiences. Speaking in tongues is clearly the evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Jimbeaux and RevKidd you need to get on the Word. No one cares about your personal opinion; especially God. I wonder how it is that Christians don't study the bible. I find it frightening when Christians see it in the Word and still reject it or attempt to explain away what is clearly written.

Funny story: my mother quit church, went back to being an atheist, and she can STILL speak in tongues! Explain that with your precious doctrine.

This is what I love about Protestantism. 38,000 different denominations, each claiming to be 'bible only' in faith and practice. And each one of those believes the bible is self-interpreting. And yet each different sect has completely different interpretations of what the bible means, meaning several things: 1. the bible alone is not enough, 2. the bible is not self interpreting, and 3. the bible is complete batshit. I'm surprised they haven't figured it out yet.

@Mortok: LULZ, me too. I haven't been Pentecostal in about 9 years, yet I can still do all that charlatan mumbo-jumbo.

I find it frightening that the alleged "elect" can't agree on even the most insignificant points of doctrine. With this kind of division in the Church how can I be expected to gamble my eternal soul on what may be an incorrect interpretation? When you guys get it together, come back and see me.

"What does the bible say" should be where we form our beliefs.

Your problems are threefold, then.

First, there are different versions of the bible.
Second, each of those versions is so badly written that there are multiple interpretations of what it says.
Third, a lot of you fuckers never bother to read most of the thing anyway.

Try doing an unbiased review of the bible and its content - without all those conditioned reflexes you have been brought up with.

You will find it's errant, innaccurate, mistaken, gory, bloody, sexy and bloody boring.

Oh sorry. I was just speaking in tongues with no trance state at all. Did I mention I can do this at will with no divine intervention from some floating space fairy that doesn't exist?

Glossolalia doesn't even fit the NT description of "speaking in tongues". If what the fundies were doing were "speaking in tongues", it should be clearly comprehensible to all people regardless of what language they speak.
