If you think about, most of the liberal left in this country are traitors. They undermine our leaders and our military. They want to basically hand us over to the UN. We are a sovereign nation, and these people don't like our God given freedoms. They think we should be like the rest of the world.

As for the posters who are asking about their problem with the UN, it's because the UN has proven itself incompetent time and time again. Its hypocritical shouting of no citizens should have guns, yet the 5 largest arms dealers in the world are the 5 permanent members of the Security Council. Their human rights record is a joke. If someone is killing lots of innocent people the most they will do is tell them to stop or they will say stop again, and worse, they often fail to recognize who is committing crimes against humanity and attack the guy who’s having the crimes committed upon him. The UN is basically like the massive, incompetent League of Nations before. These are the real reasons for opposition to the UN; however, for Conservatives it’s more likely that it’s just because the UN is not the US. Some odd form of patriotism I guess

What do you know about the rest of the world, Josh?

Little enough. There are nations that are a lot older and prouder than the US. They tend not to tub others' noses in their heritage, though. And they do have fascinating heritages. Your country is very young yet sometime wise, but often naive. And it shows in the stupidity that one so often reads here when other nations are referenced - just like what you have written. The US's horizons are generally within her own frontiers. You have a president that had never crossed an international frontier until hehad taken up that office - and he was no young man then, or a poor one! So he could have travelled quite easily.

Have you ever travelled abroad, Josh?

You have an overblown image of your country if you think that other countries generally worry much about the US. The idea is not to interfere in the affairs of others. Would that the US had adhered to this principle in the case of Iraq! Self-evidently the rest of the world is not invading other countries - with a very few exceptions to prove the rule.

So get off your high horse and tell us who are 'these people' who don't like your God-given freedoms?

From my point of view, a vast an wealthy country like yours that is conditioned and ruled by only two political parties is somewhat limited in the freedoms it can offer its people, in spite of the high ideals aspired to by its revered founding fathers. Two parties that are so similar simply cannot represent more than a very small spectrum of political opinion. Therefore, with such a limitation, freedom for the citizen is perforce on a lower level than in other places where there is a more varied representation of views. But these freedoms you speak of are anything but God-given. I'm afraid you can read your Bible till you are blue in the face, but there is no mention of the US. And nor was Moses one of the founding fathers.

There probably are a few on the radical left who insult the troops as a whole. But most of us favor the "hate the war, love the warrior" approach. Besides, you don't think the administration is undermining the military by giving them inadequate armor and supplies?

Uh, we're already a member of the UN, a pretty prominant member at that. Besides, the UN doesn't accomplish much, anyway. What's your point?

*Bursts into laughter* Are you serious? Oh, this is rich. LIBERALS don't like our freedoms? Who are the ones who claim that Christians are being persecuted whenever other religions are given equal spotlight? Who are the ones who call for certain movies and books to be banned because their content is supposedly offensive? Who are the ones who rant and rave about blacks "stealing" jobs and college spots away from whites? Who are the ones who claim that women should shut up and stay in the house at all times? Not liberals, that's for sure.

And it's time to get a reality check. America is not a Christian nation. We have our freedoms from a little paper called the Constitution, not the Ten Commandments. This Constitution was created by our nation's Founding Fathers, who were NOT Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, or Paul. So, our rights are not "God given," unless you mean that every human being has a right to them, which would be correct in that context.

In SOME respects. It never hurts to learn and absorb new things, especially if they are beneficial. America is an immigrant country, for crying out loud! So many of what we consider to be our traditions today were based on or borrowed from traditions from other countries.

Does that mean that we have to change our national animal from a bald eagle to a lion, or insist that French be the national language? Of course not. But we are part of the global community, so it is inevitable that we accept new ideas and ways of thinking - IF they are reasonable and good for people.

Of course, you have yet again made another ironic statement without realizing it. Liberals want us to be like the rest of the world? Last time I checked, so did certain die-hard conservative fundies. Only, they would prefer us to be like the rigid theocracies of the Middle East, instead of the more advanced Western world. And instead of our harsh, inhuman laws being based on Islam, they would be based on Christianity.
