I was sitting in the office at the school where I work taking a quick break before teaching my next class. While in there I heard a conversation that deeply grieved my heart. A few women were talking about something and one said, "I'm going to go to hell for that." And she chuckled and then said, "My friend and I always say we will have our lounge chairs and ice chests and be with our families, though." I just sat there in shock. So many people actually think hell is going to be a party. Even as christians we seem to forget how awful hell will be, eternal seperation from our Saviour and there will be weeping and knashing of teeth. Hell has definately lost it's shock value in our society and that is exactly what the devil wants.

I know you've lost the ability to grasp this concept, but I'll say it anyway: many people have read in your own Bible concerning the jealous, sadistic, possessive bully you call God, and consider the thought of being nowhere near him forever (assuming he actually exists) a good thing, regardless of what your Devil thinks or wants.
Besides, isn't it impossible to be separated from God, since Christians consider God to be everywhere?
Does the devil serve God in punishing sinners, or is he eternally at war with God for the souls of mankind? Does he give Harry Potter magic powers or will he burn Harry forever? Does he approve of and support so called "sinful" lives or will he extract God's revenge for them? You can't have it both ways so pick one. Either the devil is doing God's bidding in torturing people, God is torturing people for serving the devil, Hell is heaven to a sinner, or its all bullshit.
Well, according to the fundies, so many upstanding defenders of democracy get condemned to hell, as has happened before and will happen in the future... by now, I think they've just voted out Satan and the demons.

This is good news, actually. It's a sign that the shock value of Christianity is starting to diminish, and that no-one takes these losers seriously anymore. Hopefully Christianity will start to drop in the future. It seems that there's now hope that it might actually happen.

Yeah. It has. Because simpletons and evangelists rely far too much on that shock value to coerce people into believing. It's not the people having a little fun with the idea of "worst punishment EVAR" that makes it lose its value: it's the people constantly and sincerely bringing it up at every possible occassion that do so.
Landnil, according to the Book of Revelation and some passages in the gospel, the devil will be the first one into hell, and then everyone else join's him. The devil doesn't rule over hell or torment people; he is being tormented right along with everyone else.
What kind of teacher can't spell "gnash," "separation," or "definitely?" You're also using "it's" incorrectly; when it is possessive, you use "its." I hope for the sake of your students that you teach something completely removed from English, history, and the sciences.
Have you ever thought that the reason hell has lost its shock value is because it is a ludicrous concept? The concept of a Hell created by an all loving god is a contradiction of terms. Quite frankly I kind of WISH that hell really did exist so I could meet my favorites; Einstein, Tesla, Sagan, Morrison, Syd Barrett, Jefferson, Thomas Paine, Washington, Adams and a whole bunch more..sadly, they only tempt me with the idea that hell is real.

The way I see it:
Either your god allows Satan to exist so that he can punish sinners, but dosen't that mean that he is therefore responsible for the sinning in the first place for allowing temptation to exist?
Or is your god fighting Satan, in which case why would Satan try so desperatley to trap people and then torture them? Surley he would want followers. And does that mean that God is not all powerful?

Eh, of course hell is going to be a party. By your standards, everyone who knows how to have fun is going to be there. I picture the heaven/hell divide to be somewhat like how South Park depicts it, where heaven is more hell than hell is.

There's nothing to worry about since it doesn't exist. That said, I'll argue on your terms. How can there be a weeping and gnashing of teeth if most of us will die after we've lost our teeth?
