Jesus was born enlightened, and he died stupidly.
The Buddha, starting as a regular human, achieved enlightenment within his life's span. This is far more encouraging to people who wish to grow in wisdom.

Reverend Jeremiah
Ignore the first paragraphs HUGE fail..what caught me funny was the second.
Budha, if he really lived, existed about 500 years BEFORE Christ. So now it just makes your Christ look like that much more of an asshole:
Budha: "Who are you?"
Jesus: "Im the savior you rejected..Im going to become a man and get crucified for your sins 500 years in the future!"
Budha: "WTF?!? LOLZ..whatev..Lets have some pot stickers!"
Jesus: "Into eternal torment for denying my sacrifice that I made 500 years in the future!"
Then budha kicked Hey-zeus in the balls with his woden sandles and runs for the hills!

God: Why did you not accept Christ?
Buddha: Because he doesnt exist yet.
God: Fuck.

How could Buddha reject someone who did not exist when he did? Buddha died 600 years BC!

What's with these fundies and their wallowing in other people's suffering?
If he hadn't become Buddha he would (probably) have led a life of luxury and ease, and would not have done much hard work anyway.
Buddha is a title, which is why whe don't hear about Mrs Buddha.
Good thing no Christian pastor or televangelist has ever left his wife and kids behind.
Oh, wait...

To quote a Buddhist Monk
I would gladly spend an eternity in hell if I could ease the suffering of one being there.
Yeah, Buddhism is the bad religion.

Erm, most atheists are not Buddhists. How can we follow someone we don't put faith in?

Siddharta Gautama, who ultimately became the Buddha (or 'Awakened one'), was born centuries before your Jesus existed.
And even if we Atheists 'worshipped' Buddha (which we don't), there's one thing that ensures he beats your 'Jesus' hands down:
At least Buddha existed.
Right-wing fundy Christians, if you don't recognise the error of your thinking and turn towards the Eightfold Path - or at least Humanism - you will spend eternity with your 'God'. That is not a place you want to be: Cold and rotting in a hole in the ground, having wasted your life in a pointless exercise called worshipping a nonexistent sky fairy, and expecting your 'soul' (which also doesn't exist) not going to a nonexistent 'afterlife'.

How do you know about what happened to Buddha after he died? Were you there or something? 'Cause if you were, then you are either a ghost or reincarnated, both of which go against what the Bible preaches.

"Atheists like to claim that they have no god, but this is not true - Buddha is their god, and atheism is simply another form of Buddhism."
Ok, that's where I stopped reading. Apparently, this person has no understanding of Atheism.

Buddha was a prince who was initially called Siddharta Gautama. Try to learn a little before critisising.

My speech has been 'right.' I haven't used profanity and I've been respectful to all involved in this discussion.
<<
Right Speech as defined in Gautama Buddha's Noble Eightfold Path is not just avoiding profanity or being respectful. It includes not lying or speaking that which is untrue for any light reason. Perhaps "right speech" can be considered to include "do not bear false witness".
You have grossly mis-represented the history and beliefs (or lack thereof) of atheists, The Buddha and Buddhists, and Gandhi. You may disagree with all of them, but please do not lie about them.

Bhudda is a title referring to someone who has reached a state of enligtenment, not any specific person.

"ACK! Dude! You just broke your karma. Fucking A."
I'd prefer the Buddha's karma to MessyanusServant's Biblegod's dogma
...and of course, Haruhi Suzumiya's Shamisen - her Catma.

"My speech has been 'right.'"
As in
right-wing, certainly. Now why not try
Left-wing thinking, like mine?
It won't kill you.
And furthermore, I suggest you try out the rest of the Eightfold Path:
1. Right View
2. Right Intention
3. Right Speech
4. Right Action
5. Right Livelihood
6. Right Effort
7. Right Mindfulness
8. Right Concentration
It won't kill you.
Only your fundie 'beliefs'. And as for:
"I haven't used profanity and I've been respectful to all involved in this discussion."
Ahem; your words, verbatim:
"I wish God would send me back in time so that I could drown Buddha in the Genghis River. It'd be worth it"
'Right speech'? Oh yes, how
right you are.
And that's the problem.
I've said it before, but bears repeating: Hypocrisy.
It's hardwired into the DNA of the right-wing.
Hitler was a
right-winger. A Christian too:

Jeez, I'm a Christian, but I admire the teachings of Buddha. My sister is a Buddhist, and she is a nice person. That said, Atheism and Buddhism are two wildly different things. (not that there is anything wrong with Atheism)

Do I say that you actually worship a big blob of pre-chewed gum with a lisp? No. Now quit telling me what I think, especially when you do not have the capacity to do it yourself.
