The issue is this: much of the African culture originally was not based in God. It was based on superstition, idol worship and shamanism. That's separation from God. That produces many of the fear disorders that are in the black communities.

As far as I know, Shamanism actually would make you not be afraid of such things as demons, because it involves knowing how to control them. All you've got is "God help me!!"
Seems it's your religion that teaches people how to be fearful and helpless.
also, there's a difference between fearing something and showing it respect.

And to a great extent they were much better for it! As a wise man once said something to the effect of 'We had the land and they came with bibles. We closed our eyes to pray and when we opened them we had the bibles and they had the land'.
Since god doesn't exist, your god isn't based on god, It was based on superstition, idol worship and shamanism.
That produces many of the fear disorders that are in the fundie communities such as fear of Harry Potter, transformers, Spongebob Squarepants, transitional fossils, Elton John Christmas music . . .

Same thing goes for Europe AND the Americas.

Fear disorders? I say in the post-9/11 world whites are the scared ones.

Assuming that by "God" you are referring to Jehovah this statement is true of a goodly number of countries and cultures. Yet, somehow, they all manage to struggle forward with the business of life.
It was based on superstition,...
Using the name of Jesus makes your prayers more effective...gathering in certain buildings on a certain day will make God happy with you...listening to certain kinds of music/viewing certain kinds of movies will bring on attacks by evil spirits.....
...idol worship...
A cross on and in every church...
...and shamanism.
The act of "laying on of hands" and using the name of Jesus to heal....
On the other hand, I believe that the bible's god character was originally based on that of a tribal warlord. Plenty of role models in Africa these days...think of what they were like back then...!
The flagellation will continue until you wise up.
Uh, isn't this... Obama's pastor...? Fuck, this guy's nuts!
Still voting for Obama, though.

Same goes for every religion ever conceived on this planet, including Christianity. Your point?
"The issue is this: much of the African culture originally was not based in God. It was based on superstition, idol worship and shamanism." As opposed to "good luck = god's blessings, bad luck = devil's curses", worshiping a cross, and believing in miracles?

And quite a few dumb white communities, too.
Much of European culture was based in superstition, idol worship, and shamanism, until Christianity came along and stole it all.
I guessing Henry Wright is a white man. Then I guess he should know that his religion, language, culture (or at least the roots of it) all radiated from the Fertile Crescent. And that we all come from a small group of black men in Africa 60,000 years ago.
He ain't bad, he's my brother. 4000 generations removed.
Confused?
