(Totally ignoring the fact that women in Islamic countries wearing hijabs and burqas get raped, but are charged with having sex outsides the confines of marriage)
If the Islamic Shari'a is applied in America, if every man, whenever he sees a woman, would lower his gaze, if every woman is asked to cover herself completely, except for the face and hands up to the wrist, and if there is capital punishment for the rapist – will the rate of crime go up, remain the same, or come down in America? Of course it will come down! Islam gives dignity and protection to the women in Islam, and that is just the reason why Islam has prescribed the hijab.

This guy has never read statistics. Apparently. That of he has scaped the part of the koran which supposedly puts men in a pedestal.............or down, we don't know. Because, honestly, the justification for wearing the hijab puts men in an awry position, as if they were animals or so.
Oh of course, change the woman's behaviour, not the criminals... that works... *grabs a loudspeaker*
FOR THE UMPTEENTH DAMN TIME, RAPE IS ABOUT POWER, NOT SEX!!!
Actually the crime will go up. Firstly it would provide a way for women to be oppressed. Oppressed women seldom report rape. Its very hard for a human who is being oppressed to do so. Its very few people who respond to oppression with their own.
And those people are few and far between in conservative religious societies. I would rather the Burkha and Purdha systems died a quick death.
AS for this idiot. The greatest bit about india is that there is no Sharia'a law. Don't know what this moron is talking about...
Dumbass, "in for a penny, in for a pound." If the death penalty is applied to crimes other than murder, there's no reason a criminal who has just robbed/raped a person to keep him or her alive afterwards. He might as well, at that point, kill the person, so that s/he can't testify.
Never mind the idiocy of finding one person responsible for another person's sexuality. If a man can't keep himself from raping, just because he's seen a woman, he needs to be locked up somewhere far from civilized society.
Besides, the only thing that changes men's behavior is men's attitudes. If he thinks a woman is an object to be controlled and operated at his will, then he has the capacity to rape. Basically, if he's as big a piece of shit as you are, he'll act like a piece of shit!

Ashraf Mohamedy: There are two twin sisters who are equally identical and equally good looking, and they are walking down the street. At the corner there is a hooligan waiting for a catch, waiting to tease someone. One of the sisters is putting on the Islamic hijab, that is, covering herself completely, except for the face and the hands up to the wrist, and the other sister is dressed in a miniskirt. Who is the hooligan going to tease the sister in the hijab or the one in the miniskirt? Of course he will tease the sister in the miniskirt!
Hell no!! It would be the one in the mummy wrappings!
Hey you with the mummy wrappings! Do you have a bomb in there? Are you one of bin Laden's wives? Are you naked under those sheets? If you spread your arms in a strong wind can you fly like a kite? Are you going to fly yourself and your bomb belt into a building on the next windy day?
Feeling dignified as a woman means being able to look a man straight in the eye and know he sees you as an equal - not some dangerous seductive object that could snap his self control at any second. Besides, if every guy I came across lowered his eyes when he saw me, I'd just feel awkward or invisible.
If I had to wear hijab in Texas, I would probably overheat to the point of a killing spree.
And nudist colonies are the places you're least likely to get sexually harassed.
Considering some of the "newly immigrated Islamic men" that live in our apartment complex... No man "lowers his gaze" when I walk by. They look positively violently at me! I can't decide whether to slap them or report them.
Sorry, for the venting, but since I've moved from the "inner" city to the "outer city" I think I've moved to a different world. There is no harmony here at all. I found three of these "men" underneath my car one day... I rented a garage that afternoon! Apparently, they were curious how a woman was allowed to drive freely. (Must be a mechanical problem, right?)
I guess if I was completely veiled perhaps they'd respect me more?
Okay, so let's blame the victims and make them change their ways, rather than go after the criminals. Where is the logic in that? Making the women dress differently isn't going to bring the crime rate down. In fact, the rates would increase because of sexual repression.
I'm sorry. While my 15-year-old neighbor looks really strange showing the amount of cleavage she likes to (give her a few years, it'll look better when she's less kid-looking I'm sure), I'd still want to kill someone who tried to rape her.
"If Muslim men had self-respect and a sense of morality higher than that of a goat, women's clothing wouldn't be an issue."
Old Viking continues to be the master. (bows)
Well, if a big brother system was implemented in america there would probably be a lower crime rate.
However, that's a horrible reason to invade one's privacy, just like a islamic shari'a is a horrible reason to take away one's freedom.
If you strapped everyone in the country to their beds, crime rates would go down to zero.
That doesn't mean it's a good idea.
@Mister Spak: Or how about these two scenarios?
Scenario One: A useless piece of flesh that calls itself a man lives in Western society. He is violent, misogynistic, and full of himself. He sees a woman wearing moderate clothing. If he were to try to rape her, either she would stop him or possibly someone else would. If he did manage to rape her, there is a chance she would report him to the authorities. He would be arrested, convicted, and sent to prison. Society would be outraged at his behavior for the most part.
Scenario Two: A useless piece of flesh that calls itself a man lives in fundie Muslim society. He is violent, misogynistic, and full of himself. He sees a woman wearing a burka. If he were to try to rape her, she might try to stop him, but more likely wouldn't be able to. If he did manage to rape her, there is a far smaller chance she would report him to the authorities. He would be most likely NOT be arrested, convicted, and sent to prison. Society would be outraged at the WOMAN's behavior for the most part.
Guess which scenario a rapist would prefer, Mohamedy? The second one, you dolt!
@Indian Cleric Ashraf Mohamedy
Yeah sure buddy, while we are on the subject, you're an "Indian" cleric is it? Sitting over there in India, trying to fix America? India? You mean the rape capital of the world India, right? Clean your own neighborhood first shithead before you go around deriding the western civilization. And here is a hint, wrapping 'em up like cigars aint gonna save 'em goddamn islamofascists.
@#485754: EXACTLY, I couldn't agree more.
PS: It's Jason Brody here BTW. Can't edit the name. :(
"Islam gives dignity and protection to the women in Islam"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Go ahead! Tell me another one! Oh, how about the one where women are dignified by never being able to leave their homes without a male escort?
I think most women have no problem with looks of admiration, as long as they are indeed looks and not long stares with drooling mouths in tow.
I'd guess that the crime rate would go up, as it would be more accepted to blame the victim.
As the submitter said; people in niqabs and burqas are also raped and they are also blamed for the crime. Statistics of sexual violence in nudist colonies are far less than in some cultures where women wear burqas from head to toe. Citation.
Dignity and protection? That's rich! Is it dignity to force grown women to dress in a certain way? To arrest or beat them if they don't conform? To blame them for sexual assault if they showed an inch of skin? Sure, these might be more cultural than religious, but they are done in the name of Islam.
Confused?
