If religion were destroyed the world wouldn't last very long. Christianity is supposed to be the salt and light of the world meaning we keep the pagans and atheists from killing everybody.

The pagans did alright centuries before Christianity appeared on the scene.
Mind you s/he does have a point, I mean look at all those atheist wars from the middle ages the modern era. Oh, wait...
"Christianity is supposed to be the salt and light of the world meaning we keep the pagans and atheists from killing everybody."
Give examples in which you've done that. Killing them first doesn't count.
we keep the pagans and atheists from killing everybody
Historically, this has been done by killing the pagans and atheists first.
Jesus is a myth.
Die in a fire.
Soon.
Except that the world would last a long time, And no, you dont keep pagans and atheists from killing everybody... Or indeed ANYBODY.
Neither pagans nor atheists have any reason to kill anyboby. Nor any motivation, or compulsion. EWithout a Jesus comanding us to kill all unbelievers, we cannot find an excuse to kill anyone.
...Except in places that are almost all 'pagans and atheists', like say Japan, that don't seem to have a problem with their murder rate.
Next time please check your moonbat hypotheses against the real world before publishing them on the internet.
Before Jesus was born, the world were not killing each other all the time and they continued to do so afterwards. Moreover, it happened, sometimes, that those who said "oh Lord, Oh Lord" happened to be Christians.
Wow. Would you argue that there was a time BEFORE christianity came into being? If so, how did we get that far without killing each other, what with the world being filled with pagans and atheists (and deists and what not)?
Jeez, the logic...
I have to admit, this is my fault. I told our friend H-Dog that we would live in a more progressive sane world without religion.
He didn't like that idea so much...
I'm an atheist and I haven't killed anyone lately. No Christian intervention was necessary as my own ethical standards dictate that murder is counter-productive.
I'm curious as to the true number of atheist and pagan murderers H-dog has thwarted. I'm betting zero, but I'm sure we couldn't rely on his Christian values for him to give us the true number.

Whew, glad you christians came along, we were down to one each.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace.....
Actually, I'm fairly certain that WE keep YOU from killing everybody.
As for what's keeping atheists and pagans in check, that would be basic human compassion and sanity.
"H-dog"? As in "hentai"? Sound suspiciously furry, if not downright zoophile. I thought Xian fundie didn't approved of either...
(Sorry, the "by killing them first?" answer having already been done to death, mocking the fundie's screenname was all I could come up with. Caffeine still hasn't kicked in)
Yes, 'cause no-one is killing anyone in the Bible! Oh, wait...
The ones killing the most people around the world right now are the Christians and the Muslims, and I think you are both eqaully "good" at the killing.

'Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too.'

Words to live by. A simple but profound philosophy: Humanism. Treating others as you'd want them to treat you. Not harming others or their property (because you wouldn't want the same done to you). Why not try it sometime, H-dog, and everyone like you? It won't kill you.
...I'll get my coat.
Do I need to remind you about the Crusades (all of them), the so called "witches" who were burned alive, the Inquisition, the killing of inocent children in the African continent by the acusation of being wicthes (and that is happening on nowdays, with all the support of the church),...
No, Christians have killed pagans and atheists, burned "witches", and started many wars within Christianity itself, and against other religions. The world would be a far better place without religion because we'd have a lot less to fight about.
Yeah, one can't go a day or two without reading in the news about all of those atheist suicide bombers... And all of those atheist priests raping little boys...
Gods don't kill people.
People with gods kill people.
How is religion good for humanity again?
"Christianity is supposed to be the salt and light of the world"
Supposed to,,, Christianity has done nothing since its inception except talk nice and deliver mean.
Your son was "Supposed to" take the garbage out and "Supposed to" cut the lawn.
Your daughter was "Supposed to" do the dishes and "Supposed to" quit seeing that loser.
Your mother in law was "Supposed to" let up on the attitude and "Supposed to" quit smoking.
Your preacher was "Supposed to" live by the words he spoke and "Supposed to" stop perving on the young girls.
See how that's been working? At least those examples sometimes achieve the claim. Christianity has often claimed that high ground WHILE violating it.
Confused?
