"This (disaster) is one of the greatest opportunities God has given us to share his love with people," said K.P. Yohannan, president of the Texas-based Gospel for Asia. In an interview, Yohannan said his 14,500 "native missionaries" in India, Sri Lanka and the Andaman Islands are giving survivors Bibles and booklets about "how to find hope in this time through the word of God."
In Krabi, Thailand, a Southern Baptist church had been "praying for a way to make inroads" with a particular ethnic group of fishermen, according to Southern Baptist relief coordinator Pat Julian. Then came the tsunami, "a phenomenal opportunity" to provide ministry and care, Julian told the Baptist Press news service.

This disaster is a great opportunity?
I bet they told them if they'd believed harder in God and not been sinners, God wouldn't have punished them, too.
Yep, fuck giving them much needed food, shelter and medical supplies, we're gonna go convertin' the heathens!
Ugh. *pukes*
"Welcome to Missing the Point with Mother Teresa !"
Seriously, Bible pages make lousy tents. The paper is so damn thin it dissolves if you breathe on it too close...

You think these fishermen will follow a god that tsumanied them? I think you've been in the sun too long.
You fundies are paice work, you send people bible who probably
have no idea what the were and if they did they may have ben unable to read the syupid thing and even if they could read it .The minute they opened it and open read all the beget and begot bullshit they all started to laugh their ass off . but they were quite greatfull for the bibles .The paper made great fish wrap .and fire starter in the wet climate.
And it there wasn nothing around to wipe with well those bibles were always near. by .
Praying for disasters, eh?
Y'know, if prayer actually worked, you guys now would've blood on your hands, congrats...
And, according to my sources, they hate you for your vulture attitude. What are they doing with the Bibles, eating them?. They need food, shelter and psychological support, not this patronising attitude.
*Punches a hole in the nearest wall*
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
I'm sorry. I actually don't have my usual calm, rational or intelligent response to this one.
Okay, give them the Bibles if you must, but ffs please please PLEASE give them something to aid in actual replacement of the things lost to the tsunami, and don't use this as an opportunity to get on your high horse. Food, shelter, water, clothing, other supplies, this is the stuff I'm talking about. Just some advice for the future.
Omfg, people who'd just been through that traumatic don't want to be preached to! They want clothes, food, shelter....... not the freakin' word of gawd!
Insensitive Bastards for Gawd Award!
Fucking ghouls. How could they prey on vunerable, starving, homeless people who need food water and medicine? Not to mention that they think that their god is the one that caused the tsunami in the first place.
No bag rice? No cheeseb'gah? No twinkies?
What fuck you do religion, whiteboy? Can't eat it, no good.
Ugh... there are so many Christians (and non-Christians) doing actual, good work for the people who were survivors of the tsunami... providing things like food, clothes, schools, hospitals, homes, clean water... and it is these crazy, wasteful fundies who get the press!
Seriously, praying for millions to die so you can talk... that's pathetic, even for a fundie.
We all know how good your god is at the fire and brimstone thing. He's forever trashing the place; Sri Lanka, New Orleans, etc.
I thought he was supposed to be a god of love. When was the last time it rained vittles in a place like Africa?
Fuck you.
Wanna really share some love?
Bring them food, water, medicine, and help them rebuild their homes.
Try setting a good example sometime.
Ummu: I agree. This selfish moron gives hardworking, charitable Christians a bad name. The Good Samaritan did not pray to the wounded man on the side of the road instead of helping him. He tended to the man's wounds, took him to an inn, and paid for his stay. This is one of the most famous parables in the New Testament. Why can't fundies remember it and adhere to its lesson?
Praise the Lord for this humanitarian disaster? Where this guy needs to go isn't Asia, but a nice, comfy padded cell, where he'll be kept under heavy antipsychotic medication.
Stop insulting vultures. At least unlike these people, they serve a practical purpose in life.
As Anon-E-Moose once said, these people are more like PARASITES feeding of the still-living bodies of those suffering from natural disasters.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
