Quote# 2511

You know, there was a time in human history when we didn't believe in any gods. Then civilization advanced, polytheism was brought about, then theology, and hense monotheism. Now it seems like people want humanity to regress back to the Iron Age.

You know, there was a time in human history when we didn't believe in any gods.

What a peaceful time that must have been.

In palestine there was monotheism in the Iron Age, fuckwit.

They were way ahead of us westerners in terms of civilization, and when we adapted it, we reaped some of those benefits.

To bad monotheism locked us in that state for some 500 years though.

I'd have to say this isn't quite fundie. A real fundie would insist that human history began in the Garden of Eden and polytheism was a sinful rejection of the real god.

The implicit statement that religion was invented by humans can't be ignored, either.

Um. The advance of civilization is inversely proportional to the amount of superstition practiced. To put it simply, the more advanced we are, the less we need systems of faith.

Sounds to me like this person has been playing too much (Sid Meier's) Civilization.

I'm with King Duncan on this one.

The only people who seriously want to turn back the clock to the iron age, or farther, is your lot.

this is what happens when people learn about human progression from sid meiers CIVILIZATION

FTR...

Polytheism (many gods)
Monotheism (one god)
Atheism (no gods)

Seems like a reasonable enough progression to me.

That's very much opinion to question, actually.

"there was a time"

No, there wasn't.

"Now it seems like fundies want humanity to regress back to the Iron Age."

Fixed.

Yeah, you fundies do indeed seem like you want us to regress back to the Iron Age, when Moses and Jesus supposedly lived.

There probably was a time in human history when no-one believed in any gods; just before we became sentient enough to wonder why.
Why things happen, why we are here...
