Quote# 23472

Boil a lobster very slowly and it won't know it's too late until its dead. In the United States, there has been an active public relations campaign to make life easier through automation. Like the lobster, we are content to boil right along with everyone else.

Credit cards are innocent in and by themselves but they also make us vulnerable to identity theft and overspending.

Our government wants to "protect" us so the credit card will be discontinued someday to be replaced by some kind of electronic chip. With the chip you can spend money, prove who you are, keep criminals at bay, get more things done in one day, check into a hospital, enroll in school, get a job, fly on a plane with no hassle, get gas, get a haircut and more.

It will be sooooo convenient that even left behind Christians will have to fight the temptation and the ignore the justification to have such a thing.

Satan is a brilliant thinker. And he has man's best interest in mind. Well, doesn't he?

What the heck? Christians will have to fight the temptations of... convienence?

Watch out, everyone! Satan's making the mundane details of our lives easier and speedier!

Satan is a brilliant thinker. And he has man's best interest in mind. Well, doesn't he?

What? Is this sarcasm? Otherwise, what would you call Jehovah? Insane and having only personal interests in mind. Wait a minute...

I think what he means is that when the government starts putting big brother tracking chips in our arms and requiring us to have them to do anything (including buying and selling, and you can probably see where this is going), that'll be the \"everyone has to get the mark of the beast\" part of the whole end of days thing.

It's a frog in boiling water, people! A frog

4/13/2007 9:20:50 PM

I love how they think Satan is way more powerful and influential than God.

When he mentioned the lobster, just for once, I thought he was being consequent with his faith and persecuting us sea-food lovers. But no!!, he was just using a metaphore to be hypocrite and proud of it. Now, according to the Bible, the Levi can be nosey and bother everybody but if a secular gov makes it for the welfare of the citizens, just to have data registered, not an invasion of the intimity,it´s bad.

This mark of the beast crap is getting old. Back in the 1930's some fundies thought a social security number was the mark of the beast.

Satan is a brilliant thinker. And he has man's best interest in mind. Well, doesn't he?
Either this is sarcasm or this person has no idea what good and evil are anymore.

Jezebel's Evil Sister

Well, maybe you can get away with boiling a lobster BUT you'd better not eat it. That's a sin, you know.

4/13/2007 10:51:27 PM

Old Viking

If Satan is working this hard for our benefit,is a little gratitude too much to ask for?

4/13/2007 11:14:28 PM

A Christian and a technophobe to boot...

Wet Walnuts

There already is one for your keychain: ExxonMobil Speedpass.

And yes, people do need to protect their privacy and guard against identity theft. Don't confuse phony threats with real ones.

Napoleon the Clown

The analogy uses a frog, and it's bullshit anyway.

4/14/2007 5:55:32 AM

Going by the book of Revelations in particular I wouldn't say your god had mankind's best interests in mind either.

4/14/2007 6:04:42 AM

Damn Yankee

I've noticed that Satan seemed much more humanitarian than God.

\"Boil a lobster very slowly and it won't know it's too late until its dead.

Tastes great though, dipped in butter, a good dark beer to wash it down...

4/15/2007 1:51:56 AM

Fuck the what?

4/15/2007 2:11:42 AM

I have never owned a credit card. Wonder if Anonymouse can say the same?

4/15/2007 10:12:10 AM

Which is why Lobsters squeak when they're dropped in the pot.
I think you're talking about frogs who when they're placed in cold water will remain in the pot as the water is heated up around it, even when the water boils the frog will remain in the pot, until it boils to death

4/16/2007 1:25:32 AM

It's a frog, and it's disproven.

Not that logic's ever had much of a standing in Rapture sites...

Blue Lithium

Boil a lobster very slowly and it won't know it's too late until its dead.
But don't eat it, sayeth the Lord! It is an abomination![/LeviticusMode]

The main problem I have with getting a chip implanted in my hand is that someone might chop my hand off to steal my chip.

But if convenience is the new temptation facing True ChristiansTM, then I'd say they're pretty much fucked.

4/16/2007 11:43:37 AM

Mr Smith

Credit cards already have chips in them.

You can carry on using your cheque book if you want to. It is however much more difficult for me to figure out your pin number than it is to copy your signature.

4/16/2007 12:48:52 PM

Don't get a chip implanted in your hand. Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not watching you.
