[As many as 11 Christian missionaries have been arrested in Chhattisgarh for allegedly bribing poor Hindus to embrace Christianity, police said yesterday.
The incident took place on Sunday night in Jalampur area of Dhamtari town, 80km south of Raipur.
"The missionaries were caught bribing poor Hindus in a slum colony to convert to Christianity," Bharat Singh, the police superintendent in Dhamtari district, said. "They were promising people economic help and jobs in exchange for conversion."]

Again as an ex-Hindu, I must point out that the Hindu's being targeted here have no identity whatsoever. They don't know shit about Hinduism, and they won't know shit about Xianity when they convert.
To give you an anology, these people's love for christ would be less than the love we could have for a child we are babysitting to get pocket change during high school years.
Bribing people to convert is lame, but arresting them for this bribery is equally lame.
Saddam did the same thing. Teachers and other government positions were either only available to Ba'athists, or paid 4-5 times as much to Ba'athists for the same work.
I know, I know, anything to smear Saddam.
Just a sec, isn´t India a non-confesional country?, why the Hell is then this guy arresting them?. What I find more incredible about the comment of this guys, do you think that honestly money will bring them an authentic faith? what would you say if the muslims or buddist were doing the same?
anything to smear christians... Yes, it often looks as if some Christians go out of their way to do that.
I've seen several stories of Doctors and Aid workers having missionaries removed from medical and food centres for using the resources as a wedge to convert. Several reports have emerged that missionaries so drastically change tribal practices that the tribe, once independant becomes entirely reliant on the missionaries.
They've blocked missionary access to many now due to this underhanded approach
This post actually sounds more like Christian soup kitchens in America and Canada that will force newcomers into Christian rutual for their meals, just depends who's running the place
This has got to be an all-time low...
"Anything to smear christians..."
They did a nice job of it all by themselves.
"They were promising people economic help and jobs in exchange for conversion"
'Twas a good thing the Indian police arrested those missionaries then.
If they're having to resort to bribery & corruption to gain brownie points with Jebus, then that proves how fucking desperate they are.
As it was with the tobacco companies, with the way they had no choice but to turn to the East to maintain their profit levels, as they realised the West was being strangled (as far as they were concerned), by not just anti-smoking legislation (very draconian here in the UK, with our Smoking Ban in recent years), but changing attitudes, re. smoking, so it is now for religions similarly, with the increasing secularisation of Western countries (none more so than the UK and the Czech Republic; the latter is Europe's least religious country in the EU).
Thus the desperation of fundies to find newer, less educated and thus more gullible sheeple to fleece.
Mayhaps proof that America is becoming less fundie, methinks.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
