Quote# 1570

[To a poster arguing that the Boy Scouts shouldn't ban atheist kids]You sure have issues, your mindset is destructive, and I'm not voting for you if you ever run for any kind of government office. You want to change every institution or organization? Some things should be left alone.

Jesus for discrimination

7/12/2008 10:05:41 PM

I say we make an Atheist Scouts organisation and ban children who believe in a deity from entering. Then when you cry discrimination I'll be there to point out how hypocritical you are to discriminate against atheists in the Boy Scouts.

There really aren't any atheist kids...or christian kids, or muslim kids. They're kids. They don't have deep spiritual belifes. They're too young to care, or they're brainwashed by their parents.

Oh, and by saying there are no atheist kids, I mean that you won't find a child that declares, "There is no god." If he has no religious upbringing he'll have no concept of god whatsoever, and probably have never contemplated the existence of god.

Yes, things like the Constitution, separation of Church and State, etc.

The elitist discrimination of the BSA has been upheld by elitist judges.

The little pussies are no match for the Crips, anyway.

Well, I suppose I'll create an organization for Atheist kids (the Young Knights of Saint Carlin) and there will be NO RELIGOS ALLOWED and when you scream 'discrimination!' we'll point out your hypocrisy.

I've been a scout since I was 8, and it's a pluralist federation : it means that all religions are accepted, and that none is better than the other.

I'm a leader for the youngest group (children from 5 to 8), and most of them are born from atheist or christian parents. Two little boys are from a muslim family. So what ? They have a circumsized penis and they don't eat pork, and that's all we ever notice being different from other children ^^

Depending on how they have been brought up, children already have notions of religion. I can only share something that happened to me this very summer.
Discussion between 3 people : me (M), little Rosalie (R) and little Juline (J), both of them 8-year-old girls.
R : Did you study ethics or religion at school ?
M : I studied ethics, how about you ?
R : I'm in religion class ! So you don't believe in god ? (astonished)
M : No, I don't.
J : Me neither, I'm in ethics too.
R : I know a lot of Bible stories, Jesus's, John's, Noah's, Mary's ...
M : I don't even know John's ! You learned a lot :)
J : I think that Jesus wasn't god, but he still was a very nice person.

How amazing is that ? Notice that Rosalie didn't even blame us for not believing. And Juline is so broad-minded !

I'm very proud of any boy/girl scouts that I am entertaining.
